This comes pretty close to unintentionally suggesting the more physical differences there are the less pointless racism is. I don't really think what you're saying there puts him into "self aware wolf" territory. That would be in his unproven but firm assertion that Palestinians and Israelis just naturally can't get along. It may even be proven by his first question, because he suggests that justice should not be done if he finds it a personal inconvenience. He wants to bring Sam down to his level by insinuating that secretly he feels the same way

While the two groups are mainly the same ethnically (descended from the ancient Semitic people), if they consider *themselves* to be different races, that is the only criteria that is relevant. The concept of race is so fungible, arbitrary, and ill-defined that the only thing that really is required is the idea that 'they're different from us somehow'. I mean, if you yourself stole someone’s land, you should definitely give it back. It’s different from historically stolen land after hundreds of years. The current occupier didn’t take the land and it’s not clear who to return it to. That’s why we talk of reparations. Plus if any land is to be given back, the current occupants should be remunerated. No one is talking about taking land away without compensation. So, individual settlers, in any circumstances, should return the land they personally stole to their legitimate owners (without compensation in this case).

Regarding whiteness and canadian politics : The first known instance of derogatory use of the phrase "speak white" against French-speaking Canadians occurred on October 12, 1889 at the Canadian House of Commons, when member of the Canadian Liberal party Henri Bourassa was booed by English-speaking members of the parliament and shouted at to "Speak White!" while speaking French during debates on Canada's engagement in the Second Boer War.[5] The Dictionnaire québécois-français has an entry from a November 2, 1963 Maclean’s article: “for every twenty French Canadians you encounter in my house or yours, fifteen can affirm that they have been treated to the discreditable ‘speak white.’”[6]

Is this a merger of fascism and racism or was this supposed to be just racism? I'm genuinely curious. And yes, racism is about "color" aka perceived "race" or ethnicity, an immutable thing that no one can control. It is wrapped up and used with imperial colonialism, yes. It's the very foundation of it. It's the engine that fuels it. The construct was created to put groups of people into buckets to discriminate against. Religion isn't tied to racism. It is apart of colonialism as the oppressor seeks to destroy all cultural aspects of a race or ethnic group. One such way is to replace their religion with that of the oppressor. Religious persecution and discrimination is a thing but it is not racism. However, both are tools in colonialism. Another race related by-product of colonialism is the concept of "colorism" within the same ethinic or "racial" group: the lighter you are, the better you are. This is also interwoven with class in some places.

Will they be as eager to give up land as they expect palestinians to be? I somehow doubt it… They were cheering for a guy, Bundy, who held a standoff with the fbi while trying to defend his right to land he did not own.. Fox News were cheering. The caller provided a textbook definition of “gish gallop”: He kept posing new arguments when the current argument wasn’t working. A couple of points about his arguments: 1. When you try to justify Israel’s oppression of Palestinians by favorably comparing it to the genocide of Native peoples in the United States, you’ve already lost. 2. Saying that Israel’s treatment of Palestinians isn’t racism but rather an issue of cultural differences is exactly how South African Apartheid was explained by its apologists, and it’s idiotic for the exact same reason.

Then ask them if they are advocating for Palestinians to be given full citizenship/rights… they’ll immediately switch to a new talking point. “The European Union has led a chorus of criticism after Israel passed a controversial law declaring that only [insert specific ethnoreligious group here] have the right of self-determination in the country.” - The Guardian

Reparations is the government giving the people who have been fucked over enough of a voice and agency that they can be the authors of their own destiny, and enact policies that right history's wrongs. This can all be achieved by creating councils and giving representative power to the groups you are trying to provide reparations to. People are so caught up in their own anxieties about Scary Browns that they legitimately think they would willingly inflict the same shit their ancestors did.

Honestly, I think the "Muslim" label is pretty racialised as well. When talked about as a group in Western countries, Muslims are not really described from the basis of their religion, but on the basis of inherent traits, like being backwards or violent or sneaky. The difference is quite stark when you compare that to Muslims talking about themselves as a group, because they reference the Quran a lot when speaking about Muslims, which white/Western people (at least racist ones) don't really do in the same way. They use the Quran more as a straw man in order to imply that only "lesser people" could believe in it, because they claim it's uniquely cruel and backwards. At least, that's my impression.

That's all well and good, but I think it waters down the argument, since racist behaviour isn't really based on rational grounds. There are groups with few or no phenotypical differences that are still racialised. Racism is stating that a group has inherent negative traits in order to justify mistreating them. The traits have to be inherent, or mistreatment wouldn't be justified since you could simply educate or something otherwise. Everything else, like differences in genes or skull shapes or whatever, are used to "prove" the thesis about the group, not as a rational basis for discrimination. That's also why NOT talking about a difference in genes or race when describing the group doesn't mean you're not being racist towards them. If you're ascribing them inherent traits, you are racialising them. At least, that's how I see it.
