The first of five homes perched on the edge of the crumbling clifftop at Hemsby village has been demolished after storms battered the Norfolk coastline last Saturday. Heavy machinery tore through the first vulnerable chalet yesterday afternoon reducing it to a heap of rubble yesterday afternoon. Great Yarmouth Borough Council said work on the other five properties is due to start on Saturday and that eight other properties are also at 'significant risk' of falling down the cliffs are being monitored.A spokesman said: 'Following assessments this morning, two demolition crews working for the council have successfully demolished number 206. 'From tomorrow, the contractor, Anglian Demolition and Asbestos Ltd, will start to work through the other four properties in turn.
