It is propoganda that Congress has not done anything in Jalandhar. Independence has been got under leadership of Indian National Congress At the time of independence The Literacy rate of India in 1947 was 15%.and in Punjab there is folk song on illiteracy that was "Munshi Khat Likh de lea lay panj pitaase" It was Congress who established schools colleges Universities IITs IIMs AIIMS from 1947 to 1970 in urban and rural areas. Today the Literacy rate is 80%in India. This educated human resources have contributed in the development of India in all sectors of economy.Consequently today India is fifth largest economy of world. Computer technology has been initiated by Congress Government in 1986 and BJP has opposed the computer technology in Parliament on grounds that it will have been increased unemployment in India however Congress stuck in their stand. Today India has become one of major software exporters in world and is earning Revenue of billions of dollars. CEO of Google Mr Sunder Pachai studied at IIT Kanpur and many CEOs of major MNCs are proud Indians in world educated from Indian institutions including President of World Bank Mr Banga and belongs to Jalandhar. Congress has done major reform in Banking sector by nationalisation of 14 private Banks in 1969 to facilitate the common man to take loan to establish MSMEs in urban and rural areas. This initiative had been a big push to rural economy and contributed not only increase of income but also generated employment in India. A book can written on initiative taken by Congress Government for last 55 years for welfare of the people.
