This cheese is simply amazing, and it's made without dairy. Super good for you, made with sea moss and cashews. You MUST try this!
3/4 cup sea moss gel
See video on how to clean and prepare sea moss here • Preparing Sea Moss- ge...
1 cup cashews (unsoaked)
up to 1 cup water (dont make mixture too runny)
BLEND and put in mixing bowl
add
green onions, chopped
red bell pepper, chopped
chopped FRESH rosemary and dill
1/2 lemon juiced
1 teaspoon coarse Celtic sea salt
1-2 Tablespoons freshly minced parsley
1/4 cup nutritional yeast for more cheesy flavor (optional)
MIX
put wax paper in clean bowl, fill with cheese, fold wax paper over top, add a weight on top
put in refrigerator for 4 hours or overnight
pull out wax paper "bag", flip over and plop onto plate, remove wax paper
decorate with crushed nuts and rosemary twigs

Tip to get that real umami cheese flavour: use miso!! I make cheese from just cashews, miso and lemon juice. And 2nd tip if you like French camembert, ferment it by covering it and leave it at room temperature for 24 to max 72hrs. When you like the taste it's ready. In both cases if you want it firmer you can add coconut oil. 🤗

Good morning Carla this is Linda from California I ordered your cookbook but I'm telling you I made the cheese yesterday from watching You on U-Tube. this morning I opened up my cheese it is as beautiful as yours. it is wonderful wonderful it taste so GOOD... I'm going from All American diet thinking I was cooking great for my family over to vegan. I could never get anything tasting good like mayonnaise, salad dressing and cheese. How I can. I just want to say I love the new packaging on the Vitamin C. The lids are so pretty that I might save them and try to make some art with them, and thank you for filling the containers to the top. We appreciate it!

I’ve made a few recipes you’ve put out. Beginning with the raw sweet potato salad, which by the way I made for thanksgiving once and a lot of my boyfriend’s dad’s friends were asking for recipe. I have not been let down once from trying your recipes. I absolutely LOVE savory foods. My boyfriend is more into sweets. I love fruit but can only eat so much of it, my limit to sweet stuff is pretty short. So, what I wanted to ask about is. In this video you mentioned about the Peruvian sauce. I’m wondering if you ever made it. Im Peruvian and miss a lot our staple dishes. Like ceviche, papa a la huancaina, tallarín verde, arroz chaufa, causa, anituchos, ají verde (usually has mayo) etc. I really hope you can share a bit more raw vegan Peruvian dishes PLEASE 🙏❤

Ahh Sunday morning with Markus and Cara. Years ago we had a raw food restaurant in NYC that had “fried eggs” on the menu for brunch. I used to go every weekend and drag whoever I could find along with me. I finally asked how the “eggs” were made and they told me Irish moss. Of course I had no idea what that was at the time, but damn, that brunch was good. I miss that place, but I’m still friends with the chef. She is like Cara, kind of a genius when it comes to raw food, all intuition and creativity. The cheese looks great (Violife is scary authentic, isn’t it?), but now I’m really missing those brunches... 💚

Of course we will make this! We made your "previous cheese"" really a lot, we shared our results very often with others and never had a kind of Sea-Moss taste/experience at all, never someone said .things about that either. This cheese is just another recipe we can choose from we're so happy with ... as almost with all your recipes. Both of you thank you so much for this

I used cashew in place of almonds because yes very labor intensive when I made your recipe from your book my first time around. Instead for my 2nd batch I made a hot pepper cheese out of it. Tasted delicious.

Mmmm I love this ‘cheese’! I used a bit too much water (it was hard to blend without it) so mine turned out a bit too soft. But I love that this one doesn’t taste like the standard sweet cashew cheeses. It’s very refreshing😋 I just put it on a buckwheat cracker, one of my other favorite recipes I found on this amazing channel♥️ TY Cara & Markus

What’s wrong with coconut? I understand not using cashews, walnuts and almonds. They are acidic but coconut is okay

Check out Trinidadian sea moss drink...it's prepared seamoss blended with any kind of milk, sweetener, nutmeg, cinnamon, etc Almost like eggnog but no egg

Great recipe Cara as always, I just can't stop thinking it wouldn't be so hard on machine if you would first blend cashews with water and then add irish moss paste.

Even though I'm pretty busy studying at home, I find it satisfying to gather my ingredients on one day's afternoon break, and then just make it at another time. Today (with ingredients purchased and assembled beforehand) I was finished with blender washed in well less than half an hour. For me it's worth it, and I'll enjoy the cheese for several days. There are more undesirable ingredients in many store-bought versions than I care to use, although thankfully there are a few notable exceptions!

@@candacem791 Many of Cara's recipes have simple ingredients & are oh sO healthy. Absolutely worth taking a little time.. Make a little extra & stuff it in a wrap, or smear it on raw veggie chips to enjoy variations of this healthy deliciousness for days! Abundant energy & clarity is over the top worth it. You get better at making 5 or 6 of your favorite raw vegan recipes over time too. I'm 57 & haven't been sick for over 20 years!

That's funny - I have the exact same lemon squeezer and when I saw you you guys doing it the wrong way, I figured you knew something I didn't and that I had been doing it the wrong way all this time!

That is hilarious about the lemon squeezer. I noticed that Markus did it wrong, but figured he liked it that way. I never that about nutritional yeast. I always leave it in the jar it comes in. Now I should probably throw mine out.
