I just couldn't wait, so this video is supplanting my regular Saturday Diecast video. Again, this is a toy I didn't own, but any chance I got to play with my friends, I was on it like a monkey on a banana. I can't wait to share this toy with you
(Trigger Warning! This video features a toy rifle!)

I had the Daisy Ricochet Air Rifle in the early 1960's for my 9th birthday. I was born in 1952. What I do remember was it made a pretty loud pop, didn't fire any ammo and had a wheel near the end of the barrel that had line grooves in it. That was the ricochet sound - the wheel spun and a piece of metal scraped the wheel making the whizzing sound. My Mom got me that gun. She would not allow me to have a BB or pellet gun as she was shot in her youth with one. It went through a straw hat she wore and lodged in her scalp. OK, I get the reason. I now own two BB/Pellet guns: A Daisy Red Rider and a Crossman with a scope. We too played pretend WWII games in the yards and woods across the street. Sometimes I would go out solo with that air gun. Too bad it is not PC now and so dangerous. We watched "COMBAT!" and "The Gallant Men" with our Dad. Once he took us to an Army Navy Surplus Store and got us US helmet liners for uniforms!

Paul I have nothing but “MAD” respect for you! I love the fact that you care about people and your fans, you really do give soooo much to us. Now as for the rifle I would love to see you restore it I think it would make for an AWSOME video. Keep in mind though it’s your rifle and your memory so don’t do it just for us ok?. Bless you Paul for just being who you are and from the words of the great film Missery “I’m your #1 fan Paul” lol…. 🤪 ✌️

Paulie, man the look on your face says it all brother!! I had a similar gun when I was a kid. It wasn't Daisey, I can't remember what it was called, but it made a loud bang, louder than the Daisey, although it is pretty old and may not sound as it was new. I got it for Christmas and I FREAKED!! I could not wait to get out side and start a war game with my punk pals! That specific Christmas, 1969, I was 7 and that was the one I wish I could go back in time and re live, it was awesome! That year I got a bunch of redlines with three different cases - the 12 car rally case, the 24 car log case, where you could keep a log of which cars you had on the inside lid, and my favorite, the 12 car pop up grand stand case! I also got a bunch of matchbox cars but I can't remember if I got the Matchbox cases that year, or the following year. In any "case" I also got some G.I. Joes, the 12" REAL G.I. Joes, not the wimpy tiny plastic wannabe G.I. Joes! The ones we got back in the day had kung fu grip, real hair and beards, AND a cool Barbie magnet scar on the face!! When those came out, Barbie told Ken to take a walk, which is why Ken went over to the "other team"!! ") We also played "Combat" with Vic Morrow!! Then we played "Rat Patrol"!! There was a huge steel scrap yard right beside the public park I lived close to. The year I got that gun, there was construction going on to build a huge addition onto York General Hospital which was beside the scrap yard. SO we had a war game a few days after Christmas and there was huge piles of dirt, over a huge area right beside the scrap yard!! There were dozens of pretty big mounds and you couldn't see if there was someone in the hole beside you because those mounds were 12 to `15" high! There was all manor of scrap in that huge yard including some mobile construction offices and giant sections of cranes, and tons of huge, long, heavy steel I beams!! It was MADE FOR WAR!! We made our HQ in one of those offices, and I was the absolute man that entire year and all my punk buddies were begging me to let them have a turn with my gun...ahh NO?! I was NOT gonna give up that sweet gun to NOBODY!! I discovered you could stick the muzzle in dirt and it would fire out pretty far!! I decided that was not good for the gun, and I knew someone would lose an eye, so I stopped doing that. But you just brought back such precious Christmas memories Paulie, thank you brother!! I just remembered another awesome gift I got, one of MANY! This was sticks out though! I believe it was 1970 or 71, somewhere around that era and mom would take me around to all the malls with toy sections and she took a list of all the things I wanted for "santi"! There it was, I was in absolute awe!! A G.I. Joe Mobile Support Vehicle!! Have a peek - s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/1d/0f/3e/1d0f3ef948015e7809c273273af18ae5.jpg and ... 1.bp.blogspot.com/-0zBO73Hk-9U/TveN6paE5QI/AAAAAAAADkM/lO6fwISM4ZU/s1600/H88-1972-GiJoe-Mobile-Support-Vehicle-02.jpg When my mom saw my eyes pop out of my skull, she went into stealth mode and told me "that's too much Jackie, Santa Claus's elves don't build those, and I can't afford to spend that much money on one gilft...pick something else Jack" I bought it...then she asked a neighbor who was at the mall shopping to watch me for a few minutes, and I can't remember what the reason was because I was too bummed out, and trying to chose something else, which I knew would never be as cool...sigh. So, you can imagine my surprise when I tore open that big present wrapping and saw THE G FREAKING I STINKUN JOE MOBILE SUPPORT VEHICLE!!!!! WOWEEEE!! I raced around the entire house doing the most retarded dance you ever saw, which, come to think of it, resembled the pee pee dance, and I went upstairs and into the basement screaming with joy!!! I knew my punk friends would be green with envy when they saw me haul that puppy out on the lawn come spring!! A bunch of my good buddies came to the house and laid their hungry eyes on it, and the effect was just awe inspiring!! THANK YOU FOR BRINGING BACK SOME OF THE MOST PRECIOUS MEMORIES FROM MY CHILDHOOD PAULIE!! Hell, I'm gonna bust out the black n white scrooge DVD tonight!! My eldest son got it for me about 15 years ago for Christmas, and it's the very best one with Allister Simm!! Take care brother! Jack ~'()'~ Canada

Yes Paul, we know... You were a kid in the 60s-70s (1860s-1870s) lol 😉 Onna serious note. My dad bought me my first actual firearm at age 5. A Ruger .22LR (More or less the Ruger MK1) I wasn't allowed to take it to school or my bedroom, but it was mine never the less. Don't worry about the 9 finger thing. I have 13. lol 😉This is basically a Pal 105 without a barrel

We all had similar guns. But we would stick them in the ground about an inch and fill the end with a dirt clod. You could shoot each other from 10-15 yds away or more lol. Our parents would get mad because the yard would be full of holes where we battled hahahaha

I remember playing combat. We had all sorts of guns. Things Got real when we tapped 10 penny nails into a 2x4 and started using big red rubber bands that the news paper came wrapped with. To be fair My grandfather recollected playing war back in the 'teens. Right around the time of The Great War. The boys would blow off steam in the desert outside Barstow. Only back then the rifles they used were BB guns. And he remembered they had fun until one boy forgot to empty his gun out for the game and usually ended up shooting a buddy in the back side. He'd go squealing off to his mama and the days battle was then over. They'd get back at it a day or two later....lol Clean it up. Change that screw out. It's old. Too much fussing might break the plastics. Im sure they could be replicated in a 3d printer. But it wouldnt be the same...

I had a rifle like this when I was a kid. I'd say around 1968 - 1969. I have often thought of that rifle and wondered who made it but had no idea. Decided to start googling and found this. I do believe mine said Richochet on it. It seems mine made a louder 'pop' sound. It actually shot out some air. I would find a dirt area and put the barrel end in the dirt and push down and turn it a bit and fill the end of the barrel with dirt. Then shoot it. When I shot it, the dirt would come flying out.I do believe this is the gun. Never knew Daisy made it.
