Grow Free Plants just by taking cuttings from existing plants in winter. The best time to propagate these plants is in winter when they are dormant. These plants are easy to grow and you can get a lot of fruit and berries from these plants right in your own backyard. These are the plant growing secrets that nurseries do not want you to know!

Here in the Caribbean, we propagate sugarcane, using a faster technique. Just take the "log" and bury it horizontally. It will grow.
@DaisyCreekFarms
@DaisyCreekFarms 6 ай бұрын
You have a tropical climate, if we do that where we get frost or snow, the cutting will not grow until April or May and it won't have enough time to produce sugarcane stalks before the frost in Nov

Love your videos, but I wanted to ask you something what temperature are you supposed to keep the blueberries in for the next two months while they develop roots. I don’t have a greenhouse, but I was planning to put mine by a sunny window with some plastic bags over it to remain the moisture.

Would you tell me how to hold those cuttings over winter so they don't die or freezer out. Do i need a green house in zone 7? A cold frame? Or would they be ok left exposed to the elements? We have had some way below zero cold snaps the last few years. Seems like one was two weeks long. Any advice would be helpful.

How well does this work in colder climates? I live in the Fraser Valley in SW British Columbia. Should I do this at the end of winter (Feb) or now (Dec)? Should I take my cuttings indoors or can I leave them outside in my non heated greenhouse? Temperatures here in January average below freezing (-5 C) but can go even lower if we get an arctic airflow. Thanks for your hard work in these videos.

Do you have to keep the cuttings in a plastic bag (to create a mini greenhouse effect)? If you do, how long did you keep it in the bag? Thank you
@DaisyCreekFarms

Not required for most cuttings, figs yes, but do not take fig cuttings in winter, only in spring and summer. you can keep the plastic bag for one week to 2 weeks.

Isn’t sugar cane a tropical plant? Wouldn’t mind trying to grow here in Central Ohio (6a), but if it is a tropical plant, not going to bother since it’s freezing here now. 😊
@DaisyCreekFarms
@DaisyCreekFarms 6 ай бұрын
That's why i start the cuttings in winter indoors and then plant outside in spring. You do not have to do this in tropical climate, they plant straight in ground. 6a season is much shorter, you will need a greenhouse, keep the sugarcane covered in Mar and April, keep the greenhouse open in summer and then cover again starting in oct and nov when you start getting frost or snow. Harvest in Nov/Dec. It's possible but is is a lot more work.
