Daiwa BG 3000 Reel Review

I bought a Daiwa BG 3000 spinning reel a couple months back now and have had zero issues and really zero complaints. I read a ton of reviews and watch videos for different brands and ultimately went with a Daiwa BG.
This reel is paired with a 7' MH Ugly Stik Elite and 12# fluorocarbon line.

Any reason you got bg for fresh water? I bought it and am only now realizing its a salt water reel😂 already spooled it up aswell

I also fish saltwater but really haven’t had the time to make the trip out, especially on the yak. Freshwater is pretty close to me, so that’s what I’ve primarily been doing haha. I do play on going back out to the bay eventually though, so it’ll come in handy for future endeavors. For now, it’s overkill for the bass haha. And catfish, again whenever I have the time. It handles freshwater wonderfully though! Thank you for stopping by.

@@thatfishingnoob You made the right choice on the Daiwa BG. It's the best reel for the price and extremely durable and time tested in salt water fishing. However, it's not water proof or sealed so make sure to keep it lube and maintain for long term use. Also note, the OEM grease has been reported to dry up causing the reel to not work well in long term so use a better lube when it's time for maintenance. For the lube, I recommend using good Marine Grease to lube all the internal gears and ReelX Kit oil by CorrosionX for the bearings to eliminate or prevent rust from salt water. All these option can be purchase online through Amazon etc. My prefer choices for grease are the Evinrude/Johnson Triple Guard Grease for gears or Quicksilver Marine Grease 2-4-C with PTFE (Teflon) for both. The Quicksilver 2-4-C grease with Teflon can be use on the drag washer and internal gears while the E/J grease only for gears and not drag washer. Hope this helps!

@@thatfishingnoob You;re welcome! Just an FYI... Two other very good marine grease are Yamalube and CorrosionX Grease. Both of these grease are excellent choices as well. Hope this helps! Keep a tight lines!

A spinning reel has almost nothing to do with casting. Their only job when casting is to not interfere. Your rod and line is what you look towards when deciding on casting.

My main goal with this reel was decent retrieve and excellent reviews. I need to take it out to the jetty though to see if I can get some saltwater fish with it. I’ve since gotten a baitcaster as well haha.
