I wanted to express my appreciation that you're continuing to do Angel for us. With the news today that Nick Reacts is stopping his Angel reactions due to low views, that continues a recent trend with channels screwing over Angel because its a less popular show. The Normies, Cass Reacts, etc. I get the business side, I do. I have a reaction channel of my own so I do understand. It still leaves a bitter taste. So thank you for carrying on despite the relatively low views. ❤

Appreciate that. I think it’s easy for people to overlook the time, effort and money that goes into these videos. It was a difficult decision but I love this show, I just had to continue.

Hey, Nick isn't stopping the reactions of angel, he will be making them free on his patreon on the day it should have been released on KZfaq. Cass said from the beginning of angel that she didn't have time to edit Angel for KZfaq with all her other commitments but would follow the show unedited on her patreon. Dakara, your just a mega star 😀 love your reaction!

@@DakaraJayne I appreciate it as well. I prefer to get both sides of the story as they occasionally connect at points and sometimes events on one side informs the other even when they don’t. But I totally understand if someone doesn’t care to carry Angel. Whether it’s a business decision or just a hobby that’s getting too unwieldy. I’m getting free entertainment without all the hassles of running a small production studio churning out content like that. Either way i’ll be content with what I can get! So very grateful! ☺️

I think we had very different readings of Holtz's death. My impression was that framing Angel was intentional, not just a coincidental decision to put the wound on the neck.
@Teeklin
@Teeklin Ай бұрын
Oh wow, you were right about the dialogue being great but you missed the whole second layer to Holtz and his speech here that was revealed when he framed Angel at the end! Which somehow makes it *even better* when you look at it. Go back and listen to Holtz a little bit earlier with the knowledge you have now: " I found I had to stay alive that I might pass on my legacy of hate. But something happened in that place, Justine, something changed. Amidst the most unspeakable ugliness the hate turned into love. Love for a son. Hate is not enough. I found that love is far more powerful. Now there is just one thing I need you to do for me and then I can finally be done with vengeance." Holtz is telling us here that he found a better way to get vengeance against Angel. Not through hatred but through love. The love that Angel's son now has for him which he can exploit to truly finally torture angel forever in the way that Angel deserves. He loves Connor and so he can't kill him like Angel killed his son, but he can keep Connor alive and use his love to finally get revenge and take his son away. And he knows that will be far worse than simply coming back and trying to kill Angel. "Holtz: Not all. - You had a son. - So - there it is. I thought by depriving you of that son it would allow me some measure of justice. I was wrong. "Angel: Taking Connor from me was never justice. It was vengeance. "Holtz: Or maybe vengeance is what I do now. Give back what I took. This is him also slyly telling Angel what's going on here. That returning with Connor IS the vengeance he's seeking. That taking away his son isn't the actual revenge after all. "I love my son. And this is the only way I know to ensure that he will go on loving me." "I must let you go. I know that if I didn't you would only end up hating me. And that I could not bear." Holtz made this plan immediately after watching Connor and Angel playing around and fighting together. He KNEW that eventually he would die and Connor would only see Angel, not Angelus, and would come to love him. That eventually Angel would get his son back. And in doing that, he knew that Connor would eventually come to hate the man who kidnapped him and stole his childhood. Now he can turn Connor's love for him into vengeance and keep that love forever. "I'm not asking you to follow me into hell. Just help send me there." He's a Catholic who believes that if he is truly sorry he could be forgiven and go to heaven. But he knows that what he's doing is evil and that he will be damned for asking her to do it. He has no taste for it, but it's the only way he can truly get revenge for his slain family. He was an incredibly interesting character, but the end wasn't a mistake here. He told Justine exactly where to stab him and with what to make it look like a vampire attack. And to tell Connor that it was Angel who did it. That's his plan all along once he fell in love with Connor and realized he couldn't die an old man and leave him forever in a hell dimension to die miserable and alone. Love the content, keep up the great videos!

exactly. Holtz could have just hung himself or shot himself. he didn't need Justine because he couldn't do it himself; he needed her to help him frame Angel. his whole life after he lost his family was about getting revenge on Angel and Darla. "If his chest had been a cannon, he would have shot his heart upon it."
@Tantalus010
@Tantalus010 Ай бұрын
@@MrDWinter Obscure point of English that nobody probably cares about: the correct past tense of hanging (when you're talking about killing someone, anyway) is actually hanged, not hung. Yes, it sounds awkward to say "Holtz could have just hanged himself," but that's the correct way to say it. It would be hung for pretty much any other use of the word, though. Murderin' folk is special, I guess.

I wish Connor is there to hear Holtz admit he kidnapped him from his real family (His biological father Angel, his surrogate mom Cordelia Chase, his surrogate aunt Fred, his surrogate uncle Charles Gunn, his surrogate uncle Wesley Wyndam-Pryce and his surrogate uncle Lorne).

I think we are supposed to see the end as a twist where Holtz is playing Angel, and while his love for Steven is genuine, his acceptance of Angel's remorse is not. There is nothing accidental about where Justine stabbed him, or that she used a two pronged fork to do it.

Holtz punished Connor for being his arch enemies Angel and Darla's biological son. Matter of fact, Holtz abused Connor at same time he twisted love Connor. Holtz didn't care about Connor for real ever since he steal Connor's childhood and ruin his life.

Connor wasn't a well liked character, but that doesn't mean Vincent Kartheiser didn't crush it in the roll.

Yeah, the entire point off the character was to be unlikable, annoying and even to be hated at times. While people still can understand how broken he was and why he did what he did. Not easy to play a role like that. I am just glad that Kartheiser got a lot of other work after this, playing roles with a different setup.

I think the writers used the last two episodes to really set up S4. It was always of course the intention of Holtz to set up Angel with Justine's help, and with Connor pretending to to now be friendly with Angel and the rest, he is able to work his way into them. Some great little comedy moments again, as always, but the dark side of these episodes is still there. Interesting collaboration with Wesley and Lilah, and some great lines from Wesley here, who has now gained an absolute 'hardness' since having his throat so brutally cut by the abominable Justine.

I know you're ahead so I'm curious to see if your opinion on Holtz' character changes. I don't think he's changed at all, just gotten more clever about how to be vicious, but maybe I'm just a cynic. And I echo the other comment: super glad you're still continuing the show on KZfaq!! I do think more people (in the future) are more likely to catch up on someone's videos if they see the show was finished so hopefully it will pay off in the future 🤞

Holtz is a difficult one for me. In one hand I understand his pain because Angel did slaughter his family and on the other hand, he stole a child, manipulated multiple people to get his way and was very sneaky to get what he wanted. Loved the journey though. Thanks Sugar

I think you missed the part where Holtz really hasn't changed. He did lie to Connor all of his life and now sent him to Angel while instructing Justine to kill him in a way wich makes it seem as if Angel bit him. Holtz didn't love Connor, he raised him to kill Angel.

Angel didn't kill Holtz's family though, it doesn't make a difference to Holtz naturally but as the viewer we're aware of the fact that Angel & Angelus are not the same. To put it in a simple way, when you die, your body doesn't disappear in light, it just drops, assuming you were standing. Your body is buried or burned but your soul moves to wherever you're supposed to go. This is theological of course but within the parameters of the show, you are you soul, your body is just the vessel. Everything Angelus did was on Angelus, granted his uniqueness was because of Liam's mind but Liam was very much dead & at rest until the gypsies pulled his soul back. So, whatever Holtz's feelings are, while understandable, it's still wrong. I also think you may have misread Holtz a bit in this episode, him being saved by love & all of that. No, he made Conner into a weapon against Angel & his actions in this episode are brilliantly manipulative. He's setting up Connor to kill Angel masterfully, arranging his death by way of fake vampire teeth has to be about framing Angel.

Holtz is kind of a cult leader. Justine is his most devoted follower. She felt betrayed because he left without her. Now she’s probably just so relieved he’s back. That relief probably washed away a lot of the pain his leaving her behind caused. She loves him the brainwashed way true believers do. She even lays the trap for Angel even though it grieves her so much.
