This video proves that a good enough drummer can make even the most average band sound awesome, and make an awesome band sound perfect. That drummer is the whole reason I keep coming back and watching this performance. He sounds so good that it totally distracted me from the fact that there is an out of tune trombone in the trombone section.

Pretty good for high school arrangement. Those guitarist didn't know what chords to use though. Or just really out of tune.
@michaelmcnamara7602
@michaelmcnamara7602 6 жыл бұрын
You are most likely hearing the flat 9 in the first chord and the minor 6 in the last chord. They are pretty ugly, but that's what's in the score. It was off putting to me too when we rehearsed it. The C chord sets up the tonality and the flat 9 is off-putting in a tonic chord context...usually it functions as a setup for tonic rather than tonic itself, but jazz harmony being the ambiguous language it sometimes is... If you're interested, the chords are C7b9 Db6 C7b9 and Bbm6 in the intro.

@jennifert.4416
@jennifert.4416 5 жыл бұрын
Michael McNamara i know that this comment is old, but m6 chords don't contain a minor sixth. they have a minor third and a major sixth, which is a very consonant sound. chords that do have a minor sixth interval are usually called by the enharmonic augmented fifth, making it a Bbm+ not a Bbm6
