I was in the suites on the outside of Turn 2 out and saw Marcelo's crash in 1992. He was coming out of Turn 1 and the car ended up against the outside wall going into Turn 2. The SAFER barriers were not invented and approved yet and the same for the HANS device. I don't know if Marcelo had any penetration of the cockpit from racecar parts or not, but that was a sad event to see live and in person. Even with Hinch's crash a few years ago, racing is getting safer all the time.

This is painful to watch & listen to. It's almost like watching those fail videos where people get hit in the guts or something, you can somewhat imagine or even almost "feel" the pain although you aren't experiencing it. I wouldn't wish something like what happened to Hinch in 2015 to anybody. How he survived is unbelievable. Funny how he wanted that suspension piece though, I'm pretty sure if he had gotten it he probably would have it hanging as a reminder of that day or something. Definitely a feel-good story when thinking about the timeline of events that occurred between the accident and the return to the track.

I bled out from a femoral artery tear..It was a surreal experience. I got cold, light began to lose its color, everything kinda Greyed out to nothing.. I thank those EMTs daily too..and the surgeon that fixed me up and installed some new titanium parts. XP . I was riding my Motorcycle, Lady pulled out in front of me, I hit the front brake too hard, pushed the front out and I put my foot down in reaction... Oops.. That mistake broke my hip so bad my leg flailed around me and Kicked myself in the back of the head, off of and in front of the motorcycle that then ran me over as I slid into the car with it and it flipped upon impact...and landed On top of me. XD . XD I was fine aside from bleeding out and a broken foot and hip. Rehab was a little strange though. I woke up the next day...Left hip rebuilt, Right foot pinned and a Doctor over me..... I was told "You have about a years worth of recovery here, You need to take it easy and not move too much, Your artery needs to heal so no walking or moving that hip area for at least A week" and then He left.. Then another one comes in, and I was told "You won't be able to put that foot on the ground for at least 2 weeks and no walking on it till we pull those pins in 6 weeks, the pain is going to be atrocious and you'll bend all those pins and rods up if you do" and She left.. Then, the surgeon/carpenter walks in, "Ok Get up, You need to start walking on that hip as soon as you can to make sure this surgery takes and then I want you to walk as far as you can over the next few days you are here and when you get home, Try to add steps every day till you start rehab, Lets get started'... Me- "?" . So as you can imagine, with the combination of those Conflicting messages and the heavy drugs, it made for a very strange first days of recovery and a slightly misshapen foot. XP . I gave up listening to the Doctors on day 4 and I was kicking the bike back to life 6 months later. Modern medicine is as unbelievable as My own stupidity.

he lived from a femoral artery injury..... WOW!!!! that is a lucky SOB. . when i was in boy-scouts.... we were told a story about a dude who slipped with his knife.... cut the inside of his leg, near the crotch and bleed out DRY in 10 seconds.... . like.... that artery is like 1 inch wide.... it has to move a LOT of blood, because it supply's your whole leg (and when you run, your legs need TONS of oxygen) . thats just amazing to me..... like.... if i cut my femoral.... i probably would not even panic. just say "well, its been a good life"..... and just wait a few seconds for death. . the A-arm must have formed a tight "seal" and prevented all that "high pressure" blood from just POURING out. . sorta like how they say dont pull the knife out..... as its holding the blood in.
@kainhall
@kainhall 4 жыл бұрын
6:11 no dale..... like... 22 units of blood is not surprising.... you cant stop that. . like.... you would have to put a tourniquet around the WASTE..... and that alone would kill a guy. . pretty much..... if you dont have said 22 units of blood on hand in less than ~2 mins. the dude is gonna die. . like.... he is probably 1 in 10,000 that has survived a cut femoral.... amazing
