Who is Dale Brisby!? Dale Brisby is a legendary bull riding gypsy soul that is always on to the next one! He crawls outta bed the same way he crawls into the bucking chute, ready to keep it 90! He loves spurring big brahmer necks for big money checks. you can find him at the pay window, behind the bucking chutes, in the chute, or even busting broncs and tearing down honky tonks! He's been 90 in Maine, Spain, Spokane, and Ala-bame! Thank you for taking a moment to enjoy his shenanigans on the road, at a rodeo, or at home at Radiator Ranch! We all know that one guy who's always playin. You find yourself wondering every time he opens his mouth if its a serious story or another joke. You think to yourself, "You play too much! But it is funny. And you're good looking. And I want to name my kid after you. And you're a legend. And I want you to kiss my wife on the mouth!" Well that guy is me! Sometimes when I open my mouth, I don't even know if what I'm about to say is credible, so I can't imagine how you feel! However, if it isn't true, it otta be! Thanks again for joining!

I used to be that guy that wanted to make a living off cows but didnt know what it took. I was about 20 years old at the time. I went to college and majored in Ag business with the plan of becoming a rancher. I worked on farms and ranches during the school year and summer, learned how to work cows, build fence, make hay, ect. Eventually I figured out that my dream was impossible. Graduated and got a job for an ag business, work out in the field every day. Rent a small house on 15 acres I deer hunt on. Started a firewood business. Help the neighbors work cows. Cut hay after work and on the weekends during the summer. Looking into breeding and training duck dogs. Saving up to get a house on a little land and a few cows, not counting on making a living off them, my job will pay for the land, just want the cows to pay for themselves. Once their paid off they can help with the land payment, upkeep, and taxes. Point is, their other more realistic ways to make a living in agriculture and live an outdoor lifestyle than being a full time rancher.

its hard telling a youth the truth. you feel like you might discourage them. but you know you have to. take those opportunities in steps, if you have the chance. i had so many people discourage me from this or that. a lot of people will flat out tell you you cant. i dont care for those people. sometimes its easier on them to not try and be helpful. sometimes their personalities are just that way. thats their excuse

If you want to be a farmer look into chicken farming. Chicken houses actually pay for themselves, plus a little land. Not an easy way to build wealth but its alot more possible to make that work than cows alone. Chickens, cows, plus an off farm job is a realistic goal.

I still don’t understand why asking a rancher how much livestock they have is offensive or rude. Call me crazy but it’s a fairly simple question with no down side to asking. I’d love hear why it’s such a bad thing
@DaleBrisbyBullRider
@DaleBrisbyBullRider 3 жыл бұрын
How much money do you have saved up? How old are you? How much debt do you have? How much does your wife make? How much does your wife weigh? You may not find these questions rude, but a LOT of people do. Asking a rancher how many cows he has is just like asking him these questions. Also, it doesn’t necessarily matter WHY it’s rude, the fact of the matter is, ranchers think it’s rude. So get frustrated all you want if you don’t understand it, but if you ask a rancher that, they WILL think you know nothing of the ranching industry.
@nickolaskunz5735
@nickolaskunz5735 3 жыл бұрын
@@DaleBrisbyBullRider now there’s the explanation I’ve never seen before. That does definitely make sense, if how many animals you have is a status and wealth marker I can see why that may be an impolite question. Of course it matters why something is seen as rude, that gives you the perspective of the other person. You can’t expect someone who doesn’t know the ranching industry, to put any care into weather or not that’s a rude question with out explaining the reasoning behind it. Without that frame of reference it’s a perfectly reasonable question to ask for those of us who aren’t ranchers. As for ranchers thinking I know nothing about it. Fair point it’s why I’m asking the question in the first place.

Was that not the most awkward, cringe, worthy, hard to stomach +-2 hours of your life??? I mean I’m all about what dale brisby is and especially the over the top & sarcastic truths and humor in being a Bronc-stomper and a day thugger a wordsmith and all that cool stuff, And I wanted so bad for Corey Anderson to stand up for his company and his dad….and most of all himself…. Notice that when dale named the expensive parts of being a rancher he never once brought up the feed cost, and that’s because of the man sitting right across from them gives them probably all they can feed, (mind you I know @dalebrisby also brings him in money from all the publicity of his videos, but imagine what he could have done for @totalfeeds had he just mentioned their name in a positive light (as they so deserve, it’s a wonderful product, one that should be revered) even one time in this 2hrs of self-centered rambling meaningless bullshit….. Idk to me everything about @Dale in this video tells me that he ain’t no cowboy….

Dale, you’re getting in a bit of a rut on complaining about the intern applications. It’s not entertaining. You seem a lot less nice than you used to be.
@DaleBrisbyBullRider
@DaleBrisbyBullRider 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not complaining about intern applications. Usually by the time someone submits an application it's someone who is seriously being considered. I've let dozens of strangers I've never met mind you, from all over the country, come and stay in my house. I get 40-50 messages a day from people about me teaching them things. I love to visit with those people, that's why i keep opening the next message. However, occasionally i get a little frustrated when 27 out of the 40 messages are people who act like I owe them something. It makes me doubt their ability to make it in the industry. Is it possible they will make it? Yes, of course, but starting this journey with a sense of entitlement is not at all off to the right start. And it definitely will not land you a spot on my crew. I continue to visit with people everyday on how they can make it, and some of them even get to make it as an intern for me, but that doesn't mean i am not going to occasionally vent about the naivety of those 27 that think they can come to Winnebago for a vacation. I'm sorry if you view that as mean, but if you see what I do on the daily for these interns, I believe you would probably put me back in the nice category.
