THIS!!!! I hope more districts follow suit!

Who better to discipline and be responsible for children's behaviour, if not their parents? This is the only obvious solution.

They can tell parents how to do their jobs better because educators are trained to educate and care for children. Educators are regulated by the state and aside from the rare bad apple, are dedicated to ensuring children are growing up to be independent and a positive contributor to society. Parents have no regulating body to oversee their duties to their children other than CPS. And if CPS is involved, more than likely you don’t deserve to be a parent. There MUST be SOME SORT of support for parents between nothing and CPS. But indeed, it will be a lot easier if they changed it to “parental support sessions.”

Parents, not the schools, should be raising their kids.

Behavior has gotten out of hand . If parents can’t/won’t fix it at home and students won’t respond to discipline from school, absolutely, it’s on parents. Parents don’t like it? Okay, put your disruptive/bullying in another district. You can’t? Go to classes then and follow expectations set by the district. I guarantee, these meetings are a last option. As a parent, I’d be embarrassed to have to go to one.
