This clip shows how effectively music was used on Dallas to heighten the dramatic effect. If you watch the entire ending of the scene after the music begins playing over JR and Sly the music reaches a crescendo and the episode ends with a freeze frame of JR looking deadly serious. I love this as it shows the "nice" side of J.R. we rarely see. He easily could have destroyed Sly, as he has to others for much less. But, Sly's motivation wasn't to help Cliff, or profit for herself, it was for family. She wanted to help her brother out of a jam and was seemingly out of other options. Also, when confronted, she didn't try to lie her way out of it or turn it around on J.R. (a common tactic of people who cross him). She told the truth, apologized (and meant it), and threw herself on the mercy of the court. Even if it hadn't provided an opportunity for J.R. to skewer Cliff, I think he would have still forgiven her.
@63970423420000911 ай бұрын

openmind1966 me too. When I was younger I used to be one of them. In fact, Sly and I were probably about about the same age when that was on. I mean early 20s. Very competitive even then so you had to dress for success. I love the guys haircuts back then like Bobby and Ray. On Dallas, Jock had the coolest hair. Now guys do half crew cuts with some of it just sticking out. The guys wore dress jeans over cowboy boots, or even Levy and Lee Jeans. They wore blazers, long sleeve button down with the jeans and sometimes a vest or thin tie. They were really looking good too. Unfortunately nothing stays the same. Yeah, I may have had my ears pierced in 2 or 3 places, but that was it. Don’t remember many girls with Tattoos. I like the music better in the 70s, 80s, and 90s too. Just getting old I guess. Glad some of you agree! Dallas was cool and yep I liked TV better before the millinium changed too.
