Dallas Police Officer J. D. Tippit murder witness, Helen Markham

Helen Markham was in the Oak Cliff area when she saw Dallas Police Officer J. D. Tippit being shot. She later described the killer as being short and somewhat on the heavy side, with slightly bushy hair." Later, Markham identified Lee Harvey Oswald in a police lineup, but this was after she had seen his photograph on television.
Although considered the star witness, her testimony was full of mistakes. She said he was alive when the ambulance arrived, but the other witnesses say he died immediately. She also falsely claimed that for the first twenty minutes she was the only person to attend the body. Once again, the other witnesses disagreed with her.
The Warren Commission particularly used her testimony to charge Lee Harvey Oswald with the policeman's murder.
But Helen Markham's testimony is quite incoherent... if not dishonest. For instance, she denied before the Warren Commission having ever talked to Mark Lane. But the latter had recorded their conversation, so Helen Markham had to admit she had lied.

You consistently just give your middle finger to Tippit's family opining away a decorated police officer who lost his life in the cause of his duty was himself a conspirator with no evidence for it, ditto the other cops you similarly accuse by name. The best way to figure out what time the shooting happened is the way the WC did it.. You have a time stamped radio call at 1:14.30pm, and a Key witness, Ted Callaway, who arrived on scene as that call was ending, approximately 1:15.. So, they estimated how long it would take for the killer to reach Callaway, speak briefly, and then how long it took Callaway to walk to the crime scene.. Then subtract that estimate from 1:15pm.. They arrived at somewhere between 1:12-1:14pm.. My estimate is 1:12.15-1:13.45pm.. And the theatre witness thing is just you not being reasonable.. It’s an uncorroborated witness in a dark theatre, against 10 witnesses who all corroborate each other, AND have physical evidence at 3 different locations buttressing their statements?!.. Who am I supposed to believe?.. Who ARE YOU supposed to believe?..

Helen Markham was traumatised by this event and clearly made mistakes but stop whining about a conspiracy every time a witness gets something wrong, it’s the nature of the beast, people who are calm and unflustered get some things wrong, when an event like this happens you don’t consciously try and remember everything, you’re brain doesn’t work that way.

She didn't notice the fact that Tippit was totally motionless or that other people were using Tippit's radio to call for help. She picked out Oswald in a lineup because she felt pressured by the police to pick someone and because Oswald was cut and bruised, after police attacked him in the cinmena, and his appearance gave her "cold chills" - it had nothing to do with recognising him for she admitted there was nobody in the lineup she recognised! Right outside his North Beckley rooming house was a bus stop. Yet neither the driver or passengers who rode that bus regularly recognized Oswald as a regular commuter. I believe you're mixing up Frazier with Oswald as far as the Irving address goes. Frazier lived with his sister in Irving, near the Paine residence. Marina and Lee were separated and Marina was living with Mrs. Paine in Irving. Oswald would spend the weekends there and catch a ride with Frazier on Fridays and Mondays. As far as other days of the week were concerned, it would have been no trouble at all for Frazier to pick Oswald up at the North Beckley rooming house on the way into work. Which revolver? the one found at the crime scene or the one Oswald had on him in the theater? Doesn't matter because the bullets did not match the gun. And the 2nd gun was not entered into evidence. Just like the 2nd wallet found by Westbrook at the crime scene with Oswald's I.D. @@davidarbuckle7236 Saying the bullets did not match is deceptive. First, no pistol, belonging to the assassin, was recovered at the Tippit murder. So you’re wrong there. Second, claiming the bullets did not match is deceptive. The bullets were all fired from Oswald’s gun it was the manufacturer of the bullets that didn’t match. “Three of the bullets recovered from Tippit's body were manufactured by Winchester-Western, and the fourth bullet by Remington-Peters, but only two of the four discarded cartridge cases found on the lawn at 10th Street and Patton Avenue were of Winchester-Western manufacture. Therefore, one cartridge case of this type was not recovered. And though only one bullet of Remington-Peters manufacture was recovered, two empty cartridge cases of that make were retrieved. Therefore, either one bullet of Remington-Peters manufacture is missing or one used Remington-Peters cartridge case, which may have been in the revolver before the shooting, was discarded along with the others as Oswald left the scene. If a bullet is missing, five were fired. This corresponds with the observation and memory of Ted Callaway, and possibly Warren Reynolds, but not with the other eyewitnesses who claim to have heard from two to four shots.” www.archives.gov/research/jfk/warren-commission-report/chapter-4.html The gun used in the theatre was the same gun used to murder Tippit. Oswald had multiple wallets because he had multiple fake IDs he kept with himself. It’s not like the police found a second random wallet with a name like “Johnny The Rat, Residence: Chicago, Free dinner with 10th murder!” Upon Oswald or anywhere else in the vicinity. @@dustyflair I would think any police forensic evidence lab can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that his gun fired those shells by the hammer/pin markings.. Bullets taken from Tippet's body could be matched too. How many shots fired at Kennedy or at Tippet's? I'll say this. 25 years or so ago I went to the indoor firing range with a friend. He asked me how many rounds he fired at his target. I told him I was paying attention to what I was doing (checking gun, ear/eye protection, putting target in clip to run out, putting them on) etc. I said 5 or 6? He said, see, that's my point about shots at Kennedy, people were not paying attention to "out of the blue" shots, they were excited to see the president. I guess the same can be applied to this lady. In my defense, I told my friend I was expecting shots and tuned them out, in another time/place I may have known/counted. I don't think she was an overall good witness but I understand her shock and apprehension.

A lot of people in the south and north hated John. The North because of his deal with Khrushchev to remove our missiles from Turkey if Khrushchev removed his from Cuba, the Bay of pigs stab in the back would be another. The South hated Jack because of his civil rights concessions, etc. What makes no sense to me is why L H O (if it was him) calmly walked out in the street and shot Tippit in the head after shooting him 3 times. Tippit gets out, to question Lee or talk to others. Lee, knows jig is up if Tippet searches him or detains him so he shoots him and should, in my thinking, just run away unless he knows Tippit is involved and may be out to just shoot him dead. O T O H, if others that were part of assassination just wanted to eliminate Tippit because plan A went bad, Tippit was upset and could be trusted no more. I think Tippit had to mixed up in the assassination of Kennedy, so Lee (or whoever it was) makes sure Tippit is dead. Was Tippit a member of any organizations like the Klu Klux Klan?? If we study Tippet's actions that day and eye witness accounts that he was very upset about something is very damning. Why Did Tippit hug his eldest son that one morning and tell him, "No matter what happens today, I want you to know I love you very much", when he was not known to do that any other time? Why did Tippit drive to the top 10 record store to use a phone? Police business he could have used his radio. Witnesses in store said he was very upset, he let other phone ring about 8 to 10 times (judging time he waited on phone) Nobody answered. He left, upset and sped away.

Tippit was a respected and decorated officer. There is, obviously, no evidence he had some criminal culpability in this whole tragedy and people who opine he was in on it are just being hurtful to the man's family. Oswald found himself spotted by a cop, panicked and shot him when he got out of the car (no doubt Oswald was just jittery and vague enough to make Tippit suspicious), fled to the theater where he impulsively hid and tried to shoot the second officer to approach him minutes later.

He stayed there until his arrest. Unbeknownst to him, his doppelganger aka The Imposter (via J Edgar) & aka Lee Oswald, wearing different clothes than Harvey, aided in killing Tippit with 2 additional officers ensuring the last bullet was in his head, as planned. Afterall, Tippit's murder was orchestrated well in advance just as JFKs was. Donald House was arrested as a suspect that day according to controlled mainstream media & was released soon after. No coincidence there either. To add, it's interesting how the photographer followed the actual Harvey O. ery step on that day. He even signed permission for his film to be given to FBI.. which came to a stop at the theater whilst the rest, inc tippit mur*er was unfolding.

You aren't going to remember everything perfectly. Especially after the trauma of witnessing a murder. The important thing here is she saw Oswald murder Tippet. Her getting ever jot and tittle correct is not that important.

her identification of oswald would not stand up in any court sadly . hugh aynesworth was at all the scenes that afternoon . he reported that she told him tippits killer was short and chunky . she then told fbi agent odum that the killer was 18 with dark or black hair . when she went to the line up she identified oswald (who was very easy to identify , i will com back to that ) ONLY because she said a cold chill came over her . in her testimony multiple times ball asked her about her identification . he asked her did she recognize anyone in the line ups , she said no . he asked did you see anyone that you knew (IE OSWALD ) she said no . he said you did not recognize anyone ? she replied NO . no one of all 4 in the line up ? . she again replied NO . he asked did you recognize anyone by their face ? she said NO . did you recognize anyone by their clothing ? she replied NO . when all else failed he then led her and asked if she saw a number 2 man , then and only then did she say yes that oswald was the number 2 man . the commission only had two witnesses to the killing . the other was benavides , he said he could not identify the killer and never went to any line up .so the only reason they used markham was because they had no choice . when she said anything they did not like THEY IGNORED HER .such as saying the killer ran off in a completely different direction to what other witnesses said . such as her describing clothing that contradicted oswalds known clothing and which contradicted the descriptions by other witnesses . and she said the shooting happened no later than 1.07 pm . oswald was made very easy to identify in the line ups . he was put in a line up with teen boys . one who was latino DARK SKINNED . he was put in a line up with taller and broader men , one of whom was blonde .they wore nice neat shirts and ties and jackets and oswald wore a torn tee shirt . and if all that failed well they had oswald speak and say his name and place of work .by that time every tv channel , radio and paper had reported shots from the depository and that an employee was in custody .even cab driver whalley who was a line up said OSWALD WAS BEING RAILROADED , and he further said of oswald ANYONE WOULD HAVE PICKED HIM .

Questions. If Oswald had a .38 revolver. Shoots a cop for either questioning him or in a panic. If he reloaded 4 shots, when he was arrested, was there 6 live rounds in the cylinder? And if there was 6 rounds, was Oswald found with any additional ammo on him. Because if you were carrying spare rounds. Logic says you'd carry 6 for a complete reload of the cylinder. If that is the case there should have been 2 extra rounds on Oswald. Or was Oswald psychic and knew he had to carry four extra rounds because he'd known he'd fire four? Was there any .38 Special ammo found at Marina's place or his Boarding room? Was there any gun oil, or even 3 in 1 oil or mineral oil among his belongings? Was there a .38 bore brush? Or a rifle brush, or even rags? Was there any 6.5 mm rifle rounds? Any evidence that he owned a firearm, or even took care of firearms? Seems really odd they didn't even find any boxes of unused ammo, or in the trash any ammo boxes? Better question if he was in a panic, why not tuck the revolver and hide it. Go to the Theatre, go to the washroom and throw the spent brass down the toilet, and reload in a stall?
