I'm a 3rd generation Native TEXAN and Native Dallasite. I loved your map and presentation. My grandmother was born in 1899, my grandpa in 1890 and he was one of the last gas lamplighters in Dallas and worked for Lone Star Gas Co. My dad was born in 1918 and and graduated from North Dallas HighSchool. My great grandmother worked at Crozier Tech and baked 80 pies every morning. She also owned a boarding house on Commerce and Pearl. This was before WWII. These are the just a few of the great people that put this wonderful city on the map in the greatest state in the country and the world. DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS!!!🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱

Absolutely love your map presentations - like looking through a time machine. Thanks very much!!. My great granddad was born in Dallas in 1870 - city was 3000 people at that time.

I enjoy comparing the present day to these old maps to see if there is any surviving buildings. I live in Waco now and the railroads are still in place, but most are abandoned now.

I walk all over Dallas because I live downtown. I often walk over the remains of the RR Trax. I try to figure out what it was like to see them back then

Was The Trinity River relocated/redirected westward later on? It looks like it’s running through where Dealey Plaza would be created.

I.O.O.F. could also stand for Independent Order of Forresters, a fraternal organization.

It could but doesn't. David Frantz is correct that it's International Organization of Odd Fellows.

Interesting map, but you move around so fast and don't really focus on any one area. Too much caffeine man.

I wish Dallas was still like it was in 1872, it really has been destroyed by airports, toxic asphalt roads and immigration.
