This song is damn near perfect. And it is SO original too. Not many beats out there where the boom box hits at the same time as the high hat. That is REALLY fresh and hard to make sound good. This dude is legit.

Funny story: first time I saw him was @ stones throw concert. My bro and I went and made friends with some of the audience members. When all of a sudden a dude with long straight hair and sun glasses goes behind the decks. Nobody knew who he was so we all starting make fun of him calling him “perm” we all thought he was gonna be wack. Boy were we wrong! Literally every song he played was better than the other. His whole set was amazing. He rocked the crowd. By the end of the night we were all yelling “perm we love you!! You rock, perm!!” That night my bro and I learned that his stage name was Dam Funk. The rest is history.

dam funk is a cool dude. Yeah, he sings a little funny, but he does it from the heart, cause that's the music that he wants to do, uncompromised by label pressure. I was sleeping on the funk for a while,but he brought me back :)

Honestly, his “funny singing” sounds more like some early 90’s Robbie Brown-type stuff, not actually “bad”. But since that is clearly what he is trying to emulate here with the classic Dre-style beats that works just fine.

As for Dam's vocal delivery, he's already stated on numerous occasions that it was a rush job before heading off to Japan the following morning. It was just something that he wrote on the spot to add to the already released 'instrumental' version included on his debut album. This version is only a 12" single version (which features MC Eiht, which explains his quote: "Pasadena CPT connection y'all"). Just ride to the groove for God's sake! He's slappin' with this one. Period.

I wish Dam-Funk laid down vocals on the majority of Toeachizown, would have given it a nice touch (but the album was/is perfect regardless lol). Has anyone heard his tune he made when he was a teenager? It's called "I Like Your Big Ass Girl" -- absolutely unbelievable production at such a young age. I luv Dam Funk...Ever since I heard the 'Burn Rubber' remix, I knew he had the flavour I've been missin'... Real positive vibes & no materialistic bullsh*t has earned this guy a lot of respect worldwide. My only criticism is that the vocals on this track need some work (producers will know what I mean by that). Nonetheless Dam-Funk shits on 99% of commercial radio junk. Peace & Luv!.....
