Hi Tachel, I hope you all had a great and wonderful day at the doll shop!! Those dolls you showed us are so beautiful and precious and the teddy bear, Oh My Gosh!! so adorable and cute!! I have several dolls that I got at an auction in Florence, S.C. in a box lot. I only paid $25.00 for the two boxes. There must have been about thirty dolls all together!! When I got home and started going through them, there were three that really caught my eye right off the bat, I could tell that two were very old with small cracks all over their sweet faces, but that didn't matter to me, because they were so beautiful and gorgeous in their own way and still are. I have them displayed in my room!! The one that really got to me was the 1950s Madame Alexander Scarlett O'Hara doll, she was in the bottom of one of the boxes in a grocery bag. When I opened that bag and saw what bad condition she was in, I cried like crazy!! Her dress was torn up in places, her arms and legs needed to be put back on, her hair was matted really bad, she's missing her straw hat and her basket of flowers. The good thing was that her porcelain did t have any cracks in it and her face was still beautiful and her shoes were the original shoes. All the parts were with her, I didn't have the money to take her to get her fixed, but

My sister gave be an antique doll for Mother’s Day (I have no children ) circa 1920s . The doll has all the signs of being loved by some little girl and I sometime s look at her and wonder about this child from so long ago and I think it’s sad that she wasn’t kept in her family .

My family and friends marvel at my collection of orphans who would never be adopted by anyone else. I love to find much loved and less than perfect dolls. I agree with those who buy them because they are affordable and love the marks of being much loved by a child in the past. I also don't want the stress of being responsible for a very expensive antique!

You Rachel are just amazing. I have been buying antique dolls. I have two original body ones and one that has a need for a body.

Oh, I love both of the dolls. If i were to see them in the thrift store the damage to me is nothing. Yes, i would buy them. I know i have some porcelain dolls that have some cracks here and there but their faces were so darn cute and they just needed me to take them home and display them with my other dolls and love all of them. I just love dolls, I have it seems a gift of adopting ones needing TLC. Others I save months for to buy them or I get lucky and I find them in a thriftstore. That Teddy looks like one in my mother's 7 year older brothers room when she was rather small still. He was born 1923. My mom said he had a growler. Her huge Steiff teddy Jackie my dad bought her in 1955 had a growler.

I just love dolls period, no matter how they come and love to restore them as best as I can myself and trying to learn other areas of doll restoring on my own..I love dolls that have seen alot of love and some that got forgotten..they all find a home here:)...right now I'm trying to restore 5 different size EF&B dolls and I take pictures before I begin restoring each doll and then after pictures of each as I get them ready to shine in my dollroom somewhere...dolls are a joy for me when I restore them lovingly and then find a place for them to shine which is becoming a issue now..lol..going to take over the closet space in my dollroom and turn it into one big display area for my taller dolls with a couple of simple wide shelves and leave the bottom space for cases or small tubes for all my extra doll clothes etc and going to set up 1 of my christmas tree in my dollroom and hang all my doll ornaments I have been collecting over the years and set up some of my boxed dolls near/around it for another way to display my in box dolls and a few toys like doll beds etc with the dolls..you have me in a doll mood Rachel and thanks:)!!...would love to own your dolly but she will soon go out of my price but was nice to have a little close-up of her by you and your doll does have alot of Character and is cute in her own way:)!!...thanks and Stay Healthy:)!!

I love dolls that show they have had a useful life. Dolls we now think of as totally unsuitable for child once belonged to people like my ninety eight year old mother. If they show some damage, doll hospital or daddy repairs , it shows they were much loved, some hood's regular play friend.

The Circle Dot Bru is lovely even with all the little imperfections. I like the Character dolls much too. I'll live through the people who can afford to buy them because I could never afford to spend thousands on an Antique doll.Thanks Rachel for sharing. Have a blessed day.

I'm sorry about that, I hit send before I was finished!!😁😁😁 I had a friend that told me that he would show me what I needed to do to get her arms and legs back on, so I pretty much fixed her myself, with a little bit of help from him. I didn't want to change her too much, even though she's missing her straw hat and her basket of flowers, I kept the original dress on her even though it has a few years in it, her hair is still matted, but she's still beautiful in my eyes just the way she is. It still makes me water up when I look at her and think about what she had been through, but now all of those dolls that I got from that auction have a loving home to call their own, along with all my other dolls

This bear sounds like my Steiff Teddy from the late 1960s.

Love to see you share dolls again!!! My favorite also a damaged doll, a Jumeau portrait lady. When I check her head under the light I found a large area with restoration( but it looks perfect outside). But anyway she got the best personality that I like the most. They are antique anyway, some damages can even make them much more adorable.

I like to think of them as "cherished" or "dearly loved" dolls. Dolls never removed from their boxes to me is bitter sweet in the sense of it's amazing to find something never been touched but at the same time sad because it never got a chance to make a child happy. But I suppose it still gets to bring joy to our inner child. Damages just show character and I absolutely love it.

Hi i ran across your channel and i never was into dolls but i came across a few recently and its interestin g researching them and the history..While doing that I found a cpl that are decent value $3-400 bucks but one seemed to catch my attention it is BRU JN circle with dot to the left of that and in the same style writing above that it says ..dpnt qoute me hard to read it vernon seely maybe and then in cursive writing above that it looks like someone signed it i can read the letter P then some letter then TT then ? then Y and 86 for the year i assume?.where do i go to find about about her

I don’t mind damage if it doesn’t mar the face...at least not so much as to ruin the look of the doll.
