Out in Dambatsoko, the Mujuru Village, the current mbira elders play the lovely low Dambatsoko tuning of their family. Get their album (download or CD) recorded the same day at mbira.org/product/dambatsoko-...

Such a beautiful recording from these masters. As I listen, I am holding a beautiful Dambatsoko tuned Mbira made by Fradreck Mujuru, acquired through Erica Azima's Mbira.org. Thank you for this music, and for the support of makers and performers from Zimbabwe. I hope someday to attend another workshop - come back to New England, please!

Thanks Joseph, hope to see you at a future workshop! Did you know you can now see the albums by tuning? All the Dambatsoko tuning albums are here: mbira.org/music_tuning/dambatsoko/

Thanks Erica Azim for your immense contributions and documentation of the Mbira culture. Fradreck Mujuru is a very intense man - the perfectionism in his Mbira making and playing, he is very intense and leaves no stone unturned in crafting the best that can be crafted. And the Dambatsoko Mbira type - it seems to be Erica Azim's favourite Mbira, heavy bass.
