Wow, this is one of her best Elektras! I saw her in New York around this time, and she was marvelous. But this is even better. As we all know, Jones could vary from night to night, and she often did a lot of scooping in the opening monologue until the voice was warmed up. But she’s spot on here. What a gem!

Ludwig is fantastic, an example of how through good technique and diction von Hoffmansthal's complex libretto can actually be understood by an opera audience.
