@@jaysong.292 a freestyle is when you rap your own lyrics over a beat, in one take. Off the dome freestyles are what you’re thinking of, and are more impressive, I agree. But off the domes are actually rarer than u think and only real talented artists like Eminem, Juice WRLD, Harry Mack Lil Wayne etc can actually rap well off the dome consistently.

For all you bozos who don’t know hip hop: A freestyle does not necessarily mean “off the top.” A freestyle is a rap that is free of style. It has no consistent concept or structure like that of a full song. FYI. This was fire! DOLLA!

So it's basically free of style, that's really what a freestyle is. Off the top of the head, we just called that “off the dome”, when you don't write it, just say whatever comes to mind. Really, a freestyle is a rhyme that you write that's free of style. NO THE DIFFERENCE
