DAMN | The Ron Simmons Story (Full Career Documentary)
When history is written, Ron Simmons will no doubt go down as one of the most important figures in the wrestling industry. Younger fans will of course know him for his various incarnations during his WWE run, from gladiator, to leader of the nation, to ass kicking protector for hire, all the way to legend with an easily quotable catchphrase. However, before all this Ron Simmons was already making history, becoming the first ever recognised African American World Champion in WCW. Yes, it’s been a storied career and one that has spanned across multiple decades. So join us today as we take a deep dive into his entire career journey in: DAMN! The Ron Simmons Story.

Not to mention that Ron irl is a scary tough man, especially during the match against Ahmed Johnson, where Ahmed was reckless in the ring, resulted injuring Ron. When Ron gets his match against Ahmed again later on, Ron legit beat Ahmed up. Ron is basically a tiger or a lion while Ahmed is a helpless animal pinned down by the tiger/lion.

I started watching wrestling around mid 95, so I got to see the Farooq character start and change over time into my favorite period, when him and Bradshaw teamed up. The APA was awesome. It wasnt until about that time that someone had stated to me that he had won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. I had no idea that happened since it was a few years before I started watching. A couple of times a year its fun to go back and see him beat Vader for the belt on youtube. What an amazing moment. Ron's career was impressive and he was always entertaining in one form or another. He's one of my favorite wrestlers ever and he deserves all the acclaim he can get sent his way. Thank you Ron Simmons!

@vernonhampton5863

You know what's funny, football players were not always millionaires. That's still true today as a matter of fact. A lot of them in the 60s and 70s supplemented their income on the off season (which was most of the year) with professional wrestling. Not everyone was that successful or well known, but you look at a lot of names in the business, you will find that a lot of them wore pads at one time. So there has always been a link between the two sports.

Yeah, it's something Jim Ross has pointed out over the past few years. There's fewer football players making the transition, one of the main reasons wrestlers seem to be so much smaller today compared to 20 years ago.

Woah…….. I enjoyed this video and learned a lot. Ron was the first African American WCW Champion, with the highly coveted Championship Belt. Bravo. Great sports career.
