The hunter's curse was one of the biggest things I took notice to, especially with the sire bond. This made me rewatch season four. That's when I realized they wrote the entire storyline that way. Damon creates the problem AND fixes it every single time. He's the one that sired her to drink straight from the vein, then switched her to blood bags. He's the one that sired her to kill Connor, then stopped her from dying on the bridge. He's the one that sired her to flip her switch, then got her to turn it back on. But the hunter's curse shows just how much Stefan underestimated Elena. She went through so many emotions, mostly guilt... not just for Connor, but for Bonnie and Jeremy and her parents. That curse put her in overload, and as soon as it broke, she was able to live with herself. That's what happens when Stefan leaves Elena with Damon, and he helps build her up just as Alaric did. She outgrew Stefan.

Elena died because Damon's girlfriend was meant to become a vampire and Elena's boyfriend was meant to become human. Two fates. Elena's fate is written pretty strong in 3x22 and 4x1. Bonnie is Stefan's third door, Rebekah is Damon's. That's why Bonnie can help them in 3x22 but can't help them in 4x1, while Rebekah saves Elena in 4x1 but kills her in 3x22. Why Elena dies with Stefan but survives with Damon. Stefan's girlfriend died in Denver. They're on the bridge together for the first time in this episode because Damon was the one meant to put the daylight ring on her finger, just as he was the one meant to be with her while Stefan took care of Klaus' body. I believe they were fated from the moment they met, that the universe decided Damon was worth saving... and he'd be saved with the promise of true love.

"I can't live with myself." But you can wipe out an entire bloodline without batting an eye. I like Elena (when she's with Damon. 'Obsessed with Stefan' Elena was annoying), but I still don't understand why they made this character so self-righteous and preachy, but then turn around and willingly plan to murder Kol and his entire bloodline, just for the stupid cure. The cure is the worst thing about this show. If they had to 'die' in order to become vampires, then curing their vampirism should just return them back to what they were -- which was dead. The cure should have only cured the vampire shit but not their bullet wounds, their death by drowning, neck snaps etc. Stupid logic. I hate the 'cure' in this show.
