Heute sind es die Berliner Eisenbahnfreude, die Dampflokfreunde Berlin und die Loks der Parkeisenbahn die für Dampfwolken über Berlin sorgen. Auf der legendären Stadtbahn sind bereits seit 1994 Dampfloks verboten. Wir haben einen Sonderzug mit der Stromlinienlok 01 1102 beobachtet und sind bei den Berliner Eisenbahnfreunden gewesen. Absolutely nostalgic. When I was 8/9 years old in the year 1969/70 then I got up in a steam Engine train from Sealdah Station of KOLKATA of INDIA where Nobel Laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore was born in the year 1861.However I was surprised massively seeing such big black train coming with great speed bellowing curling smoke in the sky and giving whistile. I can visualise that day very brightly. Then there were also electric trains but we had to go by Steam Engine train. I stood in front the Engine and saw the flame of fire in the big hole and the helper givin coals inside that oven and the driver started the train giving shriek of whistle from the Sealdah Station. After two three station the train stood to take water for steam making. No petrol or diesel needed to ply this train but only coal and water for plying this steam Engine. Steam Engine was invented in England before 1800 century. Then we bought our ticket just one rupees (INR)125km per head. Though my ticket was perhaps half ticket and that mean may be only 50 paise. This is the story of 1969.Really each and every Station were to me some mystery. I sat beside the window and looked outside the train and everything seemed moving and going. All the trees cows goat birds everything. Really like magic. Living magic. So steam Engine trains always evoke that nostalgic day of memory which is still freashly linger.

Das letzte Mal wo ich sie gesehen habe da wurde sie von einer Diesellok geschoben ich bin als Kind mit mein Onkel und mein Freund gefahren und haben uns immer wieder gefreut wir wahren 12 oder 14 Jahre alt nun bin ich 34 immer wenn sie damals gepfiffen hatte habe ich mich aufs Fahrrad gesetzt und Bei mein Freunden geklingelt und hofften sie im MV zu sehen wir lebten in der wittenauer Straße am Heizkraftwerk

Bezüglich der Verminderung des Luftwiderstands war bei höheren Geschwindigkeiten der Beitrag der Stromlinienverkleidung gering, dagegen führte diese zu einer deutlich geringeren Abkühlung der außen gelegenen Zylinder durch den Fahrtwind.

Es gab damals mehrere verkleidete Lokomotiven, das machte sie zwar nicht schneller aber schöner und schließlich wars modern 😉 Ich glaube der Verbrauch ging auch etwas zurück.

Leider hat sich ja die Abholung aus dem nachbarland Volume 2 bis 3 Jahre verzögert Hoffe dass die finanziellen Mittel da sind um sie innerhalb von einem Jahr etwa betriebsfähig zu machen.

The streamliner at the start is very pretty. Not sure why German trains have the sinister blood red and black livery though. 😄

I apologize i do not speak German. The first train is a steam engine so it must be 75 years old or older....i am assuming. It looks very modern. How old is it? Was it used during the 2nd World War?

Locomotive 01 1102 was built in 1940, wartime. It still exists but is not permitted to operate under steam right now.

Its a german standard class 01 fast passenger locomotive, most werent streamlined tho, and over the years there were many versions
