The only bad thing about WSOP's policy is that they needed to be the ones taking the responsibility and backlash. The vaccines don't stop covid infections or stop the vaxxed from spreading covid, they simply make the vaccinated less likely to develop symptoms.

It's funny to me that the whole WSOP vaccine debate is centered around those who don't want it. As you point out, the majority of Americans have received the vaccine -- 75% of the 18+ population has gotten at least one dose. (I imagine the 21+ segment is slightly higher.) While there are Bicknells/Foxens out there who will "boycott" (lol), there are others who wouldn't play without a universal vaccination policy. It's a crappy choice from the WSOP's perspective -- make the event more welcoming/safer for vaccinated people, or ostracize/piss off the unvaccinated. Either way, you're going to reduce your player pool. Putting the moral/public health issue aside, I don't know which route maximizes attendance. I don't think it's inconceivable that more than a third of the vaccinated poker-playing population would sit out an open event during the Delta peak, and that making this vaccinated-only is the best business decision...but that's pure speculation on my part, and I don't really know.

Doug, you might need to reevaluate the the basis upon which you choose to vaccinate. Medical personal are required to vaccinate in the majority of places to keep their job - many of them do not agree with the requirements but did it to keep their jobs or left the jobs. Therefore, to say they have more knowledge than you and defer to them because they are “required vaccination workers” - is not a good basis to choose it for oneself. Cheers.

WSOP's decision is literally a business decision to minimize costs and liabilities while maximizing profit. It's far from ideal in a logical sense, but since when do profit-seeking businesses act completely logically?

On the vaccine, you seem to have a pretty balanced approach. One thing to consider is the data from highly vaccinated nations, which is seeming to indicate that while it will make your symptoms less severe on average, it will not prevent you from contracting or spreading. In this way it arguably gives people a false sense of security and may lead them to take less precaution. Natural immunity is far better, the data on that is pretty clear, so I think the main change I would suggest is you should have to show that you have antibodies for covid, regardless of how you get them, thats the underlying indication that matters.

The WSOP is not forcing anyone to do anything,if you don’t want to get vaccinated then you don’t play it’s not life or death it’s just a rule like the numerous other rules you have to abide to to play in the WSOP.

If the couple plays each other in cash games or tournaments and they don't play softer against each other, yet they pool 100% of their winnings/earnings, does it affect other players? In that case, it is more than a 30% swap; it could be considered a 50% Swap, right? There have been numerous Poker Power Couples and I don't think I have seen as much commenting on them. Maybe, it was in this case because it was taped and it could be analyzed by everyone. I have seen Jennifer Tilly and Phil Laak play and have not heard of them being accused of playing differently when at the same table.
