Its a personal choice what someone see's as a reasonable amount of money for a product & if you don't see the value in a Patek Philippe watch a Nighthawk 45 or a Ferrari for example thats fine but Dan D'agostina is one of the truly great pioneer's in audio, he deserve's a lot more respect then some of you arrogant loud mouths have shown. I doubt any of you could accomplish what he has.

For what I've seen, this $250,000 amp is really the diarrhea cream of the top. I am sorry guys but after the a $4,000+ the law of diminishing of returns go on overdrive. Yes I tried a $12,000 DAC and a with a FOCAL Utopia and a Chord Dave, RME, They sound all DIFFERENT, no better than the other. People confuse Different with Better, assuming that the $15,000 DAC sounds different with that of $4,000 then it must be $11,000 better. Come on guys do you your research, buy an oscilloscope and acoustic research tools. I promise you would be shocked. Oh and analog cables make a difference YES Silver sounds DIFFERENT than COPPER NOT BETTER. Solid core pure silver unshielded audio cables are not more than $500 for 3 meters or a little bit more expensive for 5M, you don't need more than that. If you end up buying $3,000 cables then yes you are an idiot. Don't buy a 5 dollar amazon cable and compare it to an audio quest $3,000 cable and say that it makes a difference. How about if you buy a nice decent OFC silver plated $100 cable and pit it against the Audioquest side? Well I heard no fucking difference in that scenario. Audiophiles and Audio listeners just go to the extreme. Try to be moderate and you will end up with a $300,000 for $10,000 when you lose your eyes and open up your ears.

Krell should have never let Dan go. He was Krell

+Dan Livni Krell was in dire straits when Dan was there. He needed a huge investment to keep the company afloat. Investors basically bought the company and then fired him because he was a pain in the ass to deal with. Dan has always been a delusional engineer. He was bad with money and ultimately paid for it. Nobody needs an amp that produces 2000 watts into the 1 Ohm load. Lots of money goes into such designs. It was never financially viable to make such monster amplifiers. Try telling that to Dan. He will punch you in the face.

Cello had a EQ for their products and they were VERY nice products. They didn't sell that well probably due to the expense and limited distribution.

I might be the only guy in the world to admit but I have found striving to achieve a perfect sound just gives me anxiety & really I should be just enjoying the music as a whole rather than worrying about weather I can hear a telephone calling at the back in David Bowies Life On Mars

Would like to see a schematic or at least a block diagram of this amp. Looking at the size of toroid mains tfmr there must be switching of the primary, like Carver did in the Silver 9T, it also mentions in the brochure for this amp, that the OP stage uses higher voltage rails prior to the OP section, he calls it a Super Rail Concept, it sounds like the same sort of thing Carver did again in the 9T (and other amps) and was first done back in the 70's by, can't remember if it was Sony or Hitachi. Whatever, nice looking amp for folk with too much money; there isn't $250,000 worth of complexity, precision or time (even if hand built) in a product like this to justify the price.

do you guys think it worth $55,000? two for stereo. is a Rolls Royce worth $500,000?

Levinson was a recording engineer and knew very well the need for equalization. Dan is being disingenuous with his characterization of ML.

Yes you heard it from the man himself , there is nothing wrong with tone controls, the reality is NO album you ever bought was mixed in your front room & the level of bass could be too high , so at long last YOU have the choice of curtailing it so it sounds good at home
@raffiequler75107 жыл бұрын
A good producer will always make a good sounding album. Equalizers are for kids.
@Oneness10011 жыл бұрын
Well, it also depends on how they are designed. Yeah, most rooms aren't the best from an acoustics stand point. Most people's rooms sound horrible. Plus it depends on the recording.

I don't appreciate vituperation, negativity or ageism; on KZfaq, I look for informatory not inflammatory comment. I find that effective sound shaping is not done well by electronic circuitry - 'tuning' and progressively tweaking my room acoustic works out better, simpler and cheaper (it's also more fun and potentially decorative)!
