Being British I guess we didn't see or get certain shows as they were in the US. Early 90s I became a fan of Grizzly (and the likes of Littlest Hobo etc). Think it was on our Channel 4. I remember it was Sundays. I also remember one day choosing to run from the dinner table as we wrapped up and insisting on watching Grizzly Adams. I must've been six. When you're little you don't see things as you do as an adult and so Grizzly Adams was something else. Years and years later when I read Dan Haggerty had passed, and I was late twenties/early thirties, I found myself heartbroken. A childhood hero gone. Folk can mock but when you're very little, imagination is a great thing and Grizzly Adams made me dream. Made me forget my Home Counties, dreary upbringing with no money and imagine the wide open landscapes of the USA. RIP Dan.

I have to say, the Grizzly Adams show was my brother, sister’s, and my favorite tv series. We loved it so much. It was filled with the outdoors, an amazing assortment of cool animals, a huge bear, a cool guy, and great stories. We never missed this show. We were so upset when it was taken off the air for some less than stellar cookie cutter shows.

I adored this serie more than 40 years ago as a kid, always dreamed of living the same life in nature...but life got in the way. Now all those years later my kids still know who Grizzly Adams (Dan Haggerty) is and what he meant for me! After being retired some years ago I bought a house in the Belgian Ardennes, moved there and now enjoy life in the silence and beauty of nature. Thank you Dan!!!

I grew up in the seventies and eighties and that show really influanced me in a positive way. I dreamed of a father like grizzly adams and living in the mountains. I grew up as an animal trainer (horses, dogs, macaws & parrots) and live out in the country. I live my dream, although its not the fairy tale life of the tv show, it is a beautiful life nonetheless.

What a wonderful show that was. I was a young kid back them, and the whole idea of Grizzly Adams, his friends, the woods, the animals, all just pulled me in. Such a beautiful and innocent show, with wonderful ideas. I wish we had something like that today.

As a kid I loved watching the Grizzily Adams show. Around 1985 or 1986 I was a young deputy at the Men's L.A. County Jail. One morning as I was about to get off work from the night shift in the Jail Hospital I was told to go up to the "old side" to escort an inmate back to the 2nd floor unit in the jail hospital where note worthy inmates were housed. When I arrived at the general population module I was given a JRC (jail record card) and told to escort the inmate to the hospital ward. I was amazed to look at the inmate and see that it was Dan Haggerty standing before me in a dark blue jail jump suit. He was barefoot and the leggings of his jump suit was a bit short for his height. He had no possessions. His hair and beard was exactly as he wore it on the Grizzily Adams Show. He was very polite and quiet. I had small talk with him as I escorted him to the proper housing. Some deputy must of have recognized him and ordered the rehousing. To me he was so well known and highly recognizable and I couldn't believe he was not screened better in the process and housed accordingly. He wasn't in custody for very long. I remember this so clearly even though it was 35 or 36 years ago. He was a gentle kind man just as he is remembered by his loved ones. Take care good man.....

Once a week I couldn't wait to watch the show and sing Maybe by Thom Pace. RIP Dan, your Spirit lives free in harmony and majesty, you're home now.
