Dan Martin was one of the most fun riders to watch in the 10s. Great rider. His 2014 Lombardia win is one of my favorite moments, absolute perfect move.

We should never forget our heroes and Stephen Roche was absolutely wonderful. He’s still a big attraction and Dan and Nico were both amazing riders too. I’ll always remember 1987 …. Incredible. Great interview Anto

Along with Alex Dowsett’s, I think Dan’s book is one of the best cycling autobiographies I’ve ever read. Far from the usual anodyne account of a career, it’s a much more open and honest account of life as a pro, as well as the personalities within the sport. Well worth a read.

His bit about crashing psychology was interesting. I remember as a cat5 watching videos from other cat5 racers of crashes, and you would literally see what he is talking about. Crash up the road a bit, absolutely avoidable, but riders would just see it and fall over. Panic crash.

Class rider!, was one of my most gutting moments watching cycling when he crashed out at the finish of LBL! was always enjoyable seeing him race, much more relatable than the vast majority.

I loved the way Dan Martin would accelerate on the steep slopes. Remember the day Richie Porte crashed and skidded across to the right and took Dan out like a bowling pin. That was horrible!

This interview gets really interesting around the 32:00 minute mark where they dance around the doping question. It seems Roadman wants to believe riders are clean, where Martin is basically saying "enjoy the spectacle" -- i.e. of course Tadej is on the gear. That's bloody obvious.

It was interesting his POV, I lean towards agreeing with you

He does not imply Pogacar is "on the gear." He just states the obvious. No one can possibly know unless evidence emerges that proves Pogacar is doping. The world is full of people who think they know with certainty something that they have no evidence for. Luckily, Martin is more thoughtful than that.

For a former lawyer, that's a really bad explanation of innocent until proven guilty. You're innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt *in the eyes of the law* and even then only with respect to *criminal matters*. So we don't send people to jail unless we're really sure they did it. This doesn't mean we necessarily apply that in other areas of law and life. You might not vote for a politician you think is probably corrupt. You might not watch or support a sports person you suspect of doping. I'm not suggesting the current lot are doping or not - I've no clue either way
