Dan, The visceral that was pointed towards the Michigan program for sign stealing is why the alumni and fan base gets mad. Until the Big 10 suspended Harbaugh, the pundits at ESPN, and you included, was calling for the program and Harbaugh to receive the death penalty, and saying the only reason Michigan won the last 3 years was because of sign stealing, but not because of changing the culture, offensive and defensive coaches, and the 4-5 stars that they brought in 2021-2023. Don’t get me wrong they should and is being punished for this infraction, but no way they should been overly punished for this infraction. If you truly know football and how it’s won at all levels, the offense and defense fronts, and having a good QB, is the proven and factual reasoning for winning. When Harbaugh has had all 3 he has won and competed at the highest levels.

Well stated. Dan is ignoring the level of hate and also the portion of this that is people simply out to get Harbaugh that are blow it up to be more than it is because they hate him. Would be interesting to see what comes out on other schools if investigators get access to every computer in their organization.

Note that there's no evidence currently that the program as a whole was involved in advanced scouting. (With sign-decoding itself not a violation.) Just one low-level staffer, and possibly his friend, a lower-level line coach.

That's because what Michigan's scouts did is done by every single college team in the country. Harbaugh just angered someone, and they decided to go after him for a vague rule with a lot of gray area that is never enforced. That's the gist of this...and no I'm not a harbaugh or michigan fan. I'm a Buff. Just calling it like it is. It's a gigantic reach for the NCAA to remain relevant in college football.....like punishing him for buying hamburgers for players considering transferring because they were hungry, and they were there......so stupid.

lol the cheeseburger really got me. How many players does a coach see in a week? They’re calling him a liar for not remembering when he bought some kids cheeseburgers. They went after Harbaugh because he advocated for revenue sharing. And he just advocated again on Sunday.

I would wager that what Connor Stallions did was pretty unprecedented. I sincerely doubt every college team is managing a network of people to go to games in advance to record signals. That said, yes, what Michigan is accused of doing is something so minor that the NCAA considered dropping the rule entirely as late as last off-season. And the reason it's not permitted isn't even for the worry of "stealing signs," the primary reason is because the NCAA is worried that every team under their umbrella wouldn't be able to do it evenly. And yes, I think there is a cabal (if you will) of big money movers that REALLY don't like the idea of someone like Harbaugh advocating they share their ill-gotten scratch with players, and they are more than willing to hyperinflate a minor violation in the grand scheme of things into a massive scandal to discredit Harbaugh. It's a story that's been blown completely out of proportion by people who REALLY want it to be a bigger deal than it actually is.

People that don't know football, or jealous haters, are the only ones that clutch their pearls about sign stealing when it comes to Michigan. You know people don't actually care about sign stealing. They just cherish the chance to take a dump on Michigan. Even MSU's Harlan Barnett let the cat out of the bag when asked about Indiana stealing their signs and he said everyone steals signs and then said it's ok that Indiana does it because they did it "the correct way." That's like saying "Sure we all rob banks, but Michigan is the only one to use rifles instead of just handguns!"

Sign stealing and advanced scouting are 2 different things dipshit. Rules are rules. If rules are broken, people need to be punished. Ohio state got removed from bowl eligibility because of trading personal belongings for tattoos. Michigan, if the accusations are true, should recieve at least that same punishment. And have their Big 10 titles stripped. But if they didn't do anything wrong, forget about it. But gets your stories and facts straight, it's not sign stealing allegations, it's advanced scouting.

Note: It's factually inaccurate at this point to say that "Michigan cheated." As that implies the program as a whole, or at least a significant percentage of it, was involved in improper advanced scouting. And all we know at this point is that one low-level Michigan staffer was engaged in such activity, with one lower-level coach attempting to hide that analyst's actions after the fact. Now, one could say that "someone at Michigan was cheating, and their team may have benefited from that, even unknowingly." Or "Michigan may have been cheating in an organizational way." But anything else is simply inaccurate, unless/until further incriminating evidence is produced. It's also not clear why the action sof Stalions or Partridge would "tarnish" Michigan's season this year, given that advanced scouting was clearly not a determining factor in any games this year. (Michigan blew out every team before MSU so badly that we know they would've won regardless. And they continued to blow out MSU and Purdue after they had a chance to change their signs. And also defeated PSU, Maryland, and OSU despite not having their head coach.) Anyone too clueless to realize this has no business participating in a sports show. And anyone with a sports show should try to speak more thoughtfully/accurately/intelligently. Finally, one could argue that advanced scouting (sign de-coding itself not being a violation) may have impacted some closer games in 2021-2022. However, there weren't really that many such games. And Michigan clearly simply physically overpowered Ohio State in 2021, and outplayed them in 2022, with a overwhelming 22 point victory. (Which would've been a 29 point victory if the refs hadn't mercifully blown a last-minute Stroud fumble dead.) With OSU apparently knowing about the sign-decoding prior to that 2022 game. I hope this helps. Try to be better and more accurate in the future.

The situation with Ryan Day hasn't been fully revealed as of yet he was under so much pressure that he resorted to engaging an investigation firm to look into his competitor in Ann Arbor and handing the information over to the NCAA it's not a good look if you can't trust your own team to winning on the field. He was successful in not having the coach against Jim Harbaugh but in the long run it backfired losing to a substitute coach.

Ohio State fans need to open their eyes and look at the big picture. Right now, coach Jim Harbaugh has a bit of an advantage being the better head coach when both teams play the big game. Some experience matters during these games. Ryan Day will eventually beat MIchigan, its just going to take time. I understand patience is extremely hard to control when instant emotions come to play after a huge impactful loss. Former Ohio State head coach Urban Myer had the tactical advantage over Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh when he was recently hired to turn the Michigan program around. Urban Myer won those big games despite the hype coach Harbaugh had due to his solid NFL head coaching experience. What Ohio State is adjusting to now is still playing these big games after Urban Myer due to Ohio State's solid success of often beating Michigan in the Big Game. I remembered a period when Michigan consistently beat Ohio State during the 1990's despite OSU having a way better record than Michigan leading up to the Big Game with some of the best players one can imagine on paper with former head coach John Cooper. At least two of those late 1990's Cooper led OSU teams were considered National Championship teams under coach Cooper, but for whatever reasons they were never mentally prepared to beat Michigan in the Big Game. Head Coach Ryan Day sort of reminds me of former head coach Tom Osborne when Nebraska had great teams during the 1980's but couldn't beat the Barry Switzer led Oklahoma teams in most of those big games. I think OSU would make a huge mistake if they fired head coach Ryan Day. Ohio State is still up there. A few tweaks here and there and OSU will win it all again. Right now, it's Michigan's time to shine in Big 10 country. In time, the pendulum will shift back to OSU. The only other program in the Big 10 that can possibly make a dent between those two elite programs is Penn State, and it's been evident they're a distant 3rd-tier program compared to Michigan and OSU.

For supposed "Intelligent" commentary, I am amazed at the ignorance and/or gas lighting. Sign stealing is not illegal. What Michigan is guilty of is violating the rule regarding advanced scouting by having peripheral people video other teams signs in person. The same information that is available by video. There is no actual advantage as Ohio State and other schools collude and share Michigan's signs. Yes, the actions of an overzealous Michigan staffer and illegal and self inflicted, but they don't provide an actual advantage. The inability of "football" people to understand this is staggering. Additionally, this Michigan/Harbaugh "scandal" attack just happens to occur as Coach Harbaugh calls for revenue sharing with the players on the heels of the largest TV contract in history. No wonder the long knives are out. Follow the money people.

Everyone steals signs. Michigan got hit politically. Harbaugh didn’t do anything worse than all the other coaches did so wake the F up. You’re smart, so stop being so dang stubborn. Michigan vs everyone!

Sign stealing crap goes away now, or it should. They just beat Penn State & Ohio State on an even playing field. If the sign stealing was that significant, Michigan would’ve lost.

It was more of a handicap for Michigan than even playing field. How many top 5 programs would still be undefeated with their HC suspended for 6 games?

Completely agree which is why they should be the overall #1 seed. I think Harbaugh is going to the NFL either way after this season, but what’s going to SUCK for Michigan is if they win the Natty, that all but solidifies that he’s gone. He’ll use the “Mission Accomplished” as the reason for leaving.@@DaManAWu

Love that passive aggressive bs Michigan did when they had the flag tarps moving above them during their on field team meeting.
