As a young boy his father was a heavy drinker who abused the boy the mother tried to save him but he killed her than his father got alcohol poisoning and died than the boy was haunted by the ghosts of his past then took influence from his father and drank away his problems that explains why in the guy,s mind he imagined dan and the girl as the ghosts.

I thought half brick was child friendly.
