My husband and I played Avicii’s version at our wedding. Nine years later, I played it at his funeral. We just got done setting his headstone. It was misting rain. Got in the car. It’s on the XM Bluegrass station. And that’s the song that came on, this version. ❤❤❤

Too bad he had to wait a decade because he sold the rights in the recording contract. Why you never sell out to the mainstream industry lmfao. Dude would be WAY BETTER off if he just released THIS a decade ago. Talks about it in multiple interviews that he regrets the decision. Furthermore he was already an established musician by the time he did the soundtrack for Oh Brother Where Art Thou.

I'm an american born of Mexican descent.. grew up listening to Hip Hop and Rap in Los Angeles.. and through the love of music and film over the years.. I ended up here with one of my favorite Bluegrass singers.. although I should say it was in part due to the Soggy Bottom Boys.. an amazing movie, with amazing music. hats off to you Mr. Dan Tyminski.

DAN. I have so many feels. This song was tremendous nine years ago, but now I'm quite certain it was meant to be a bluegrass song and you have made that song the way it was born to have been. I will always love Avicii's original, don't get me wrong. But it feels like he spoke through you from beyond. Outstanding. Now I'm going to go cry for a while.

True story I saw that George Clonney movie and thought: who ever is singing that Constant sorrow song is amazing!! Then Hey brother came out and thought: who ever is singing that song is amazing!! Then I saw the Clooney film again and thought is this the same guy that sings with avicci? Make some research and found my favourite singer is called Dan Tyminski and now my favourite album is Southern Gothic

I want to share a tender moment with you dan that i experienced today. Growing up, i had 4 brothers, but they were not in my family as they were from my moms first husband. I wasnt close to them because they were half the country away. But one of my brothers loved me dearly and messaged me all the time. He has since passed, but he loved Avicii and this was the song he sent to me to represent our relationship. Today, i still dont have a relationship with 2 of my brothers, but my one brother, Moses loves my mother and talks to her weekly. He doesnt believe in God fully, and he is gay, but we love and accept him. Today he sent us a song about God. And it made my mother cry. And i remembered this song my other brother sent me(Patrick, the one who passed on). Now i get to pass this song on to my brother who is living, and my brother who loves me. I would give my life if it meant saving my brother Moses, he is so precious and means so much to me. Thank you for hearing my story Dan, I am praying for you today, may Gods hand be covering you and His angels fighting for you to continue on this journey! I love your music. God bless Avicii🙏🌷

I was in my senior year at school when I first discovered these Avicii songs. Wake Me Up is a good one. When I first heard this one it transported me to another world. Beautiful piece of music, beautiful lyrics, fantastic vocals. Who knew a country twang would adapt so well into a dance song? This version just complete the experience

Hey. My name is Linda. I speak from Brazil. I confess that this has been one of the songs I listen to when I'm doing some homework. On the DJ Avicci version, it's kind of straight forward and even the Avicci tribute one. It has a very cool beat for dancing, exercising or running. Anyway, this also helps me a lot to learn to sing in English, and thank God practicing daily has worked out super well. Hey Brother and The Nights by Avicci I've been listening nonstop and I'm already there My English is getting perfect, it's flowing and I'm seeing the result. 🙏🏽I loved that version too, a country version I love a lot. But I confess that I love the version of Avicci with that beat. I just wanted to say that you have a voice that is super blessed by God and that God blesses you a lot because there is no way not to recognize that it is a divine gift. Pretty hard to compete with this one right here The lyrics The vocals The harmonies The musicianship The way Dan let’s each musician showcase their talents and perfectly integrates each instrument The way the group interacts with one another on camera, you can SEE their relationship together I keep watching this over and over and every time I watch it keeps getting better Just outstanding

Avicii did hear this. He is the one who sang the track for Avicii. In fact Avicii specifically reached out to Dan to sing this song and wrote it specifically for Dan's vocal type. He wasn't credited in the track because Avicii wrote the song and the lyrics.

This is an emotional song for me. My little brother shared this with me when it first came out, and he's gone now. Taken in a car accident five years ago at age twenty-one. Man, how I wish I could hang out with him one more time. "There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do" to have that. There is hope, though. No sorrow is too great for Jesus. Trust in Him.

Absolutely amazing musicians. There’s something about the combination of multiple stringed acoustic instruments that can turn a song into a beautiful symphony. I’ve played guitar for 25 years, and I’ve only recently realized that the roots of my musical taste is rooted from bluegrass and similar songs like this. Thank you for the wonderful musicianship and lyrics and keep on strummin!

I love our American folk music. When I was younger, I always wondered why I didn't like most country, but there was a specific type of "country" that I did like which I came to understand was bluegrass. You get groups like this and Flatt Lonesome, and you really find some awesome stuff. Great musicians with great emotion.

I have never been much of a fan of Bluegrass. I am a classical musician who played French Horn professionally. I can not get enough of "Hey Brother...." done by this band!!!!! Dan's voice and the instrumentalists are FANTASTIC! I play wooden recorders now (soprano, alto, and tenor). I go for the Irish flute/ Native American flute sound. I would so love to jam with these folks!!! (God, I love the banjo!) Dan, if you are looking for a recorder to add a new dynamic to any of your songs, PLEASE contact me!!!! Let's try something.
