Dan looks up to the sky while he is singing this in memory of his beloved dad. Brings tears to my eyes listening to him sing this for not only him recently losing his dad but for my sweet heavenly daddy, too. He finished this in tears. God bless him. His dad is soooo proud. ❤

My Daddy took his last breath with his 4 girls, wife, and 3 daughters, holding his hands while one of us reading his favourite Psalm. I weep along with Dan because I miss my dad, who is singing with the angels, waiting for us to join him one day. Thank you for sharing your reaction with us.

This is a video that always brings me to tears. It's amazing that Dan was able to maintain his composure and still sing with such a beautiful voice. He is without a doubt the greatest artist on KZfaq and the world as we know it. He is my favorite singer of all time. Thank you for your your reaction.

I couldn't sing after my husband died, a little over 9 years ago. My husband was a great vocalist. I couldn't even listen to music for years. Dan had brought my love of music back. Him singing this never fails to make me tear up. So beautiful and full of emotion.

My husband passed away six months ago. I too find I'm no longer able to do the things we regularly did together. Listening to Dan's music is the one thing I've found which brings me a bit of peace in what has become an oh-so-quiet house (no longer a home.)

I cry every time I watch this. As you said, it's amazing that Dan managed to get through this song. It's a real feat to be able to sing like that when your soul is in such pain. Someone else mentioned that they couldn't sing at such a time, well I've found myself also not being able to sing for quite a while after very close family deaths. Thankyou so much for your heartfelt reaction and looking forward to more Dan reactions, thankyou😃

There is no way I would have been able to sing after my parents died, but we grieve for ourselves who are left behind. People will tell us we'll see them in heaven, but that's so far away, and we're hurting now. God be with you as you suffer the loss of a loved one🙏

Thank you for your continued response to this very emotional cover by Dan. He sang it just a few days after his father's death. As a fan of Dan, it's always hard for me to hear this song. I myself cannot and do not want to compare these two gifted singers. Shortly after releasing this cover from Dan, he received a heartbreaking message and sang "Love me Tender" by Elvis. Dan reads it at the beginning... Maybe they want to respond.

I'm the same way with Dan singing this. When he gets to the "Hush Little Baby..." line and then from there on, every time I hear it, I can't help but tell him out loud, through my own tears, "It's OK, Dan. You can do it. Your dad is hearing you and loving what you're doing. Hang in there," even as my own heart breaks for him. I'm the one who asked Steven and Corey if they would do this double reaction. It's not meant to compare Elvis and Dan. It's meant to show what it was that Roberto loved so much, and how much his son loved his father, that he put himself through singing this song for him, even in the middle of his own heart breaking. My next (again, double) request (in May) will be dealing with Dan's gift to Annie and her husband.

My heart just breaks for Dan every time I see this. The tears in his eyes... I lost my father 7 years ago when I was just a 55-year-old pup. I can hardly speak of him without tearing up. I don't know how Dan found the strength to do this just days after losing his papa. Like you, I get through it with my faith and the emotional release of music. Hail Vasc Nation 💪❤️✝️

And I think you were insightful and it probably helped him to do something to show his love for his father when feeling helpless! It was also like he was reaching to his community of supporters and sharing his love for his father. What a testament of love!

...and that's OK, because in that empathy, there is a stronger power than in some other instances. If Dan could stand and sing for his dad with everything inside of him, then there are bound to be those who will have seen or will now or in the future see and hear this, and think, "Wow! If Dan could do this for his father, then maybe I CAN get through this particular time in MY life, too." Also, Dan has voiced several times, in his outros, a line that I first heard (long ago) in another song, by Rodney Atkins - If You're Going Through Hell, keep on going! Don't slow down! If you're scared, don't show it. You might get out, before the devil even knows you're there!" Dan basically says the same thing, then extends his music to us, offering us POWER, so that we may have an EPIC day. 😀

As usual, whenever I watch this, I'm sitting here bawling my eyes out... he's in so much pain. I don't know how he made it through the song... I know he has dealt with it by now ... but in this video you see the pain so vividly... I'm glad you broke it up and talked... because I'd be even worse off than I am now... I found Dan a year or two before his father died... and when he put it out I watched it the day he dropped it. Shew... 😢💔 I appreciate the way you handled it thank you so much. Dan is the only person who's done a cover of this song that I really like... big Elvis fan here, but now I am an even bigger Dan fan. Love his cover of Love Me Tender also

My father was an incredible musician, everything I know about music and instruments I learned from him. It was 11 years ago and it still hurts the same way to this day. Dan made this video 3 weeks after his father passed away, tks 😢😢❤

You have Dan's open permission to go ahead and use his videos any way you like. Some people (one in particular, and I won't name her) do that in a way that irks me, because she never gives him (or anyone else) the credit that is due to them. Dan doesn't ASK for credit, but, personally, I don't think it's right NOT to give an artist the credit that is due, for all the hard work that goes into everything that has to happen before we see the finished product. All you need to do is put all of Dan's Christmas songs (with a few others that would be good to add to that list) into a PLAYLIST on your channel. Let everyone know exactly where everything came from, and give a few facts about the dates they were released, etc., and why you love them so much. Then make a Christmas card online, and add the link to your Dan Vasc Christmas Playlist. They'll love it, I'm sure! 😀

@suzannebush176 -- I'm sorry...not meaning to be the grammar police, at all, but...I'm thinking you may want to edit that comment JUST a bit. It's Dan's FATHER who passed away five days before Dan posted this song. 😊 Dan is still with us, and has not yet "passed."

Dan’s voice is quite different from Elvis’s voice. I really can’t say which one was better. Dan is more versatile (I couldn’t see Elvis doing Heavy Metal) and, to my ear, his voice is more like velvet when he is in the lower register. Dan also was so emotional, you could see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice. I always call Dan “the man with a golden voice and a hundred faces”. They are both so talented that I would call it a draw as to which is better.

Nope...that's not the version that Dan was singing. He used a much more simplified version, with no outside harmonies (especially not a bass harmony). There actually is not JUST "the one" from Vegas. There are quite a few different ones you can find, along with several with large orchestras behind him. The only one that is not VEVO, is the one from 1973, which has the added harmony lines, plus in it, the orchestration is a bit clunky. VEVO gives reactors big problems, and should be avoided, if at all possible. They rarely back down on copyright issues.
