That ear flip at 4:02 was ear candy. These two gentlemen are fire in this. Dan added just the right amount of grit in just the right places. Dan and Garrett Peters took this sad mournful song and turned it into a celebration of joy. Someone said "don't be sad it ended. Be glad it happened." That's what they did with this.

I'm totally with you about not being a fan of the original. There are so many songs that Dan has covered that I really didn't care for the originals, but with his takes on them, I have enjoyed so much: this one (My Heart Will Go On), Poker Face, I'll Make a Man Out of You, Kiss From a Rose, etc...

I’m so happy you got to this one so quickly-I’ve been watching for you to post. It’s kind of interesting that you named off three vocalists that I don’t want to hear, either. I never saw Titanic, I mean, I already knew what was going to happen in the end, so I only knew the intro (I randomly chose it as my daughter’s ringtone without knowing anything about it). Because I didn’t know the song, I had to listen a few times to catch the lyrics, but I was loving the musicality of it from the first note. Dan posted hints of what the song would be as they recorded it and indicated what he thought would physically happen to the listeners when they heard it. That was a trip in and of itself! What a gift Dan is. He takes a sweet sad love song and makes it a power anthem. But his vocals are what shines. Dan doesn't do covers. He makes them a Dan original. This song is a banger! Glad to see that Dan could still impress you. I am not a Celine fan, either. I just do not like "sappy" songs and most of hers fit that category. Dan is working on an original song with Rippa The Umbrella Guy and Garrett will be joining them on guitar. Dan has said that after his race with Nerdrotic Gary to a million subscribers is over, he will be doing a lot more original music. He posted a "hymn" to Gary this a.m. Not politically correct but I gotta admit I laughed.

Were you just a little bit surprised, Josh? 😄I'm not a big fan of hers either, despite her good voice- ALWAYS the same style of singing. This is a mammoth upgrade in my opinion. (BTW, I think Dan said once that he started weightlifting for the discipline, and now he's addicted.) I love everything about this - the most gorgeous, versatile, and powerful voice on the planet, lots of smiles, tons of energy (I thought that Dan was going to pop out of his skin at a few points), fabulous guitar work by Garrett, and not really a cover but a total reimagining.
