For everyone in the comment section complaining "That's not how a Green Lantern ring works," I completely agree with you, but I also have a theory. Later in the game, its revealed that Brainiac changed Superman's DNA to make him more resistant to kryptonite. It's possible Brainiac did the same with John Stewart's GL ring, reprogramming it so it wouldn't fly off or deactivate after John was brainwashed and started killing people. That's probably why King Shark was able to use the ring. I don't know if this is ever confirmed in-game, but that's the only way it makes sense going by the lore of the comics.

You also can’t kill with a green lantern ring, only subdue. 4. When a ring wielder dies, the ring flies to the next candidate in the universe that has shown great willpower. 5. You can remove the ring normally. It’s not stuck on your finger. 6. Forcing the ring on your finger without being chosen will either result in no powers or a very painful experience until it is removed. 7. The green lantern ring doesn’t mind control you. So fucking stupid!

There's a theory going on that the members of the Justice League under Brainiac's control were actually clones and I think this scene proves it. The so called self proclaimed all knowing “fans” who are claiming that the Green Lantern ring has always had a no kill policy clearly don’t know all because there are numerous times that policy has been broken in comics and other media (cartoons included). The rings can and have been altered in the past by various characters including the Green Lantern Batman who uses his own will to overpower the ring’s policy and make it kill in Dark Nights Metal. The game also clearly explains each hero was changed by Braniac’s process like with Superman being immune to green kryptonite. He obviously altered the ring like he altered the other heroes hence why it kills. Seems all the “true fans” clearly don’t know all about the expansive source material they claim to love.
