While Rascal Flatts is an awesome band & this song is a sublime tune, I knew when I first heard it on the radio, it was a 1 off-ers. Singers tone, pitch & beat here is a bit off from that of Gary LeVox. As a result, took me awhile to find out who sang this & what the song title was since the radio dj didn't name it at the time. Like the song, but the video is conflicting, especially at the beginning.

This song's "Wiki" file describes it as the pair separating because he (the deaf hiker) wanted to finish his journey alone. Dan + Shay included a deaf man in this video because they were so inspired by the actual hiker actor's (Nyle DiMarco) advocacy for the deaf community that they hoped to use their video as another platform for this cause. 💜

Because of him, she makes an effort to learn sign language so she can speak to him every day and when he's gone, she then asks for the bartender job and works at the same bar where they had good times together just to wait for the day he comes back to her again. 4 years later, she still recognizes the man she loved. 4 years of waiting seems hurtful but it's worth the wait. All I can say is that this persistent love is as solid as the fragrance of tequila.

This song means so much to me, because I relate to it almost 100%. " Iwas living in Breckinridge, (where this was filmed) acting at CEO for my grand fathers company. He had just passed away, and named me as CEO until they found someone else to take my place. I was 22, and I had no clue what I was doing. I flew out there, and purchased a cabin using some of my inheritance money. I traveled through Breckenridge that same day, driving through dirty snow and dead grass. I came into a bar, and met a beautiful blonds girl. Lauren. Although she wasn't deaf. I ordered a tequila, and so did she. We hit it off well, and we related on almost every subject that we spoke of. We ended up going on a few dates. I fell in love with her. She moved into my cabin with me, and we had separate rooms at first, but that later changed. At one point, we fell into an argument, and she exclaimed that I paid more attention to work than to her. (About four months had passed since I first there.) I told her she knew how much the company meant to me, which by this time I had decided to run it permanently. She didn't see the importance of my grand fathers company. I worked my butt off everyday to ensure the future of it. But unfortunately, she thought work was mote important than her. Let me step back two months. One night, it was cold, snowing. I broke out the tequila just as the clock hit 11 at night. We sipped our tequila, and I sat in my chair, and just stared at her. Her beauty, her eyes, her hair, her Oklahoma Sooners jersey. She looked amazing sitting there, and I knew it wasn't the alcohol making me stare at her. We spoke softly to each other, very tender. That's the night that concreted my love for her. To what I was saying earlier; She talked a lot about how she thought I loved work more than her. Another two months passed, and finally I broke. I told her I was leaving. I couldn't take it. Then I was too dumb to open my eyes to true love in front of me.. Right there. So, I left. I left her the cabin, and I purchased another one on the other side of Breckenridge. 3 years passed. I hasn't seen her, but I didn't forget about her. I sat one night, realizing how alone I was. I stepped out into the snow, and the cold gripped me tight. The cold even brought back memories. I decided I wanted tequila. It had been three years since I last had tequila. I drove to the all night bar, depressed. I missed her like crazy. I chose work over her, my Lauren. I sat down at the bar, and asked for tequila. A hand gently landed on my right hand. I slowly looked up, and there, in front of me, was Lauren. The love of my life. I chuckled, and she smiled, then I broke down. She cried with me. She poured me a glass of tequila, and first sip was all those first memories, and that night I remembered so well, the same night I knew I loved her, but was too blind to know the full extent. We ended up back together. Married. Going on two years now. We have one kid, Jessica. She was born December 11th, the same day me and Lauren met. Kids, life is complicated. Being rich isn't the most important thing in the world." With the one you love by your side, you are already the richest person in the world.

I can still shut down a party I can hang with anybody I can drink whiskey and red wine Champagne all night Little Scotch on the rocks and I'm fine, I'm fine But when I taste tequila, baby I still see ya Cutting up the floor in a sorority t-shirt The same one you wore when we were Sky high in Colorado, your lips pressed against the bottle Swearing on a bible, baby, I'd never leave ya I remember how bad I need ya, when I taste Tequila When I taste Tequila I can kiss somebody brand new And not even think about you I can show up to the same bar Hear the same songs in my car Baby, your memory, it only hits me this hard When I taste Tequila, baby I still see ya Cutting up the floor in a sorority t-shirt The same one you wore when we were Sky high in Colorado, your lips pressed against the bottle Swearing on a bible, baby, I'd never leave ya I remember how bad I need ya, when I taste Tequila When I taste Tequila I ain't even drunk, I ain't even drunk And I'm thinking How I need your love, how I need your love Yeah, it sinks in When I taste Tequila, baby I still see ya Sorority t-shirt, the same one you wore when we were Sky high in Colorado, your lips pressed against the bottle Swearing on a bible, baby, I'd never leave ya I remember how bad I need ya, when I taste Tequila When I taste Tequila When I taste Tequila When I taste Tequila Deaf people should be able to hear this because it is so enchanting.

I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG... BUT IT TOTALLY HITS DIFFERENT SINCE I FELL IN LOVE WITH MY BOYFRIEND WHO IS DEAF. I WAS ABLE TO TO SHOW HIM I KNEW TEQUILA BECAUSE OF THIS SWEET LOVE STORY. AND HONESTLY ITS SIMILAR TO HOW WE MET. I WASN'T LOOKING FOR ANYTHING AT ALL & RAN INTO HIM HERE AND THERE FOR 3 YEARS BUT DIDN'T QUITE KNOW HOW TO APPROACH. I'VE STARTED LEARNING SIGN DAY & NIGHT AS MUCH AS I CAN BECAUSE I HAVE COMPLETELY FALLEN FOR HIM. THEY FEEL EVERYTHING & ALL THEIR OTHER SENSES ARE IN HEIGHTENED. WHEN WE FIRST MET IT WAS LIKE OUR SOULS WERE TALKING FOR US WE FELT EVERYTHING EACH OTHER WAS FEELING WITHOUT ANY WORDS. BUT IT IS VERY EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO THEM THAT YOU ACTUALLY TRY TO SIGN WITH THEM. THEY ARE LEFT OUT. YES MOST READ LIPS WELL OR CAN FIGURE OUT THE POINT. BUT JUST THINK ABOUT BEING IN A ROOM WITH PEOPLE LAUGHING AND CARRYING ON BUT YOU CAN'T HEAR A THING. PUT YOURSELF IN THEIR SHOES. ALSO TO LOOK AT IT AS A VERY LOUD ROOM WITH 100 PEOPLE TALKING WE GET WORE OUT AND DRAINED TRYING TO PAY ATTENTION OR CONCENTRATE..... SAME GOES FOR WHEN THEY ARE TRYING ALL THE TIME TO UNDERSTAND WHAT WE SAY. THEY GET EXHAUSTED AND OVERWHELMED TOO. HE VERY MUCH APPRECIATES I SIGN FOR HIM SO HE ISNT LEFT OUT

I once had an amazing person come into my life in college and Tequila played a part in it. I met this really beautiful girl who wore glasses. After talking I found out she lived in the same complex that I did RW'villa and I couldn't believe that now I could talk to her even more. We ended in the same college classes some and though I was in a relationship, I truly found myself falling in love with her. Every day we would talk and it became that I completely fell head over heels in love with her. She was so beautiful and her long blonde hair down to her waist and just so kind. I told her I was in a relationship but I never really told her I loved her. We would go out on Thursday nights and dance together all night till sweat would pour off of us. Joking and always respectful of each other, but YOU COULD see the chemistry and people who knew us actually asked if we are actually a couple. I was an a cyclist in college and after my 100 mile rides I'd go directly over to her place and hang out and talk more and she would cook stuffed shells for me. There were many days that I held myself back from just telling her and ending my other relationship. My college friend was actually my soul mate. One evening in particular we had to go over to this get together for a class, and before we went her and I downed about half a bottle of Tequila that had a bull on it. I forgot the name bull we made fun of each other laughing about the bull getting us. We tried so hard to not let out we were buzzed for a class to get credit for going. Lmfao!!! I will tell you that we still talk to this day, and I made a very big mistake by not following my heart and my soul mate. I thought I was doing the right thing by staying with my original girl but 3 years later I was divorced. My sweet college friend/love of my life, moved back up north to Conn. She has moved on with her life but those nights and those moments we shared holding and laughing through the times we shared ❤ are etched into my being. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about her, and how I wished I had said something to her. So, to this day we talk every now and then and WE BOTH now understand we loved one another. But, this song is one that reflects a moment in her and mines life that takes us back to 1996 on that Tequila night. In short, she is still my friend and we both love each other but its a matter of timing now! If she was ever free and myself, I would crawl, fly, drive, cycle, or whatever I had to do, to get to her. I miss her so much in my life, and I would anything to have one dance or one more chance to love her. There's no need to destroy others lives but maybe the stars will align and I'll get that call to come north. God, knows I've talk to him enough about it. Memories are the one thing I can open in my mind, that glimpse into the past, and I can still feel her moving and swaying with me dancing. There was even one night that I carried her home and carried her upstairs and undressed her like she did to sleep. Yes, it Crossed my mind but I loved her to much and pulled the covers over her and walked home around the block. She knew, and she knew that night all hell could have but my love was to much for her. I wanted her and I wanted her fully together ❤ with me. If you ever have someone that you think you might love and you walk away, just remember you might not ever get a second chance like this video allows it. I was in tears when I saw it, and of course she called me one day and said,,, you gotta go watch this video because it reminded her of our Tequila night. So, you could say it's kinda a tribute to us "WE THINK". I'm sure she will one day read this, and will know its me! So, I'll give a toast of Tequila to you my love and all our times and fun joys we had. I still love you D !!!! BH

Mr. Webb- I hope you get the chance to feel that kind of love. I hope you also never get to the point that you miss out on the love that we shared. Its almost like a shadow that follows you, and you never get to dance with it or love it. Its there with you but you never get to ever FEEL that love you once shared. You have a memory of once was but also one that will never be! I think to me that is the hardest part of it. I think of her all the time, and would do anything to have this person in my life. Jake, don't ever be afraid to let someone know that you love them. Tell them, and don't let them slip through your life! You will REGRET it like I have done. B&D 😍
