The track is actually a performance unit song. So this is a special version that’s been restructured for the whole group.

That's what I learned after concluding this reaction! I later watched their performance version and I thought it was pretty cool with the extra cinematic elements!

I remember when this came out and I was so surprised bc all 13 were doing the perf. unit's choreo!! (Seungkwan ATE in this one.)

I still reccommend looking at the other version since that would show the original version of the dance since this was for a 4 member unit [performance unit] so the one with just them is also just as valid as this one for seeing how the dance is supposed to be.

I believe that I did end up looking at the performance version whenever I did my MV marathon of their work! It's such a vibe!! I also really love seeing all the members killing it here!

ikr? It's such an interesting and cool choreo, I love Highlight! Proud of you for making it through, that was a LOT of explaining (and much appreciated!) The album choreography credits are the usual suspects: Hoshi, Jun, The8, Dino, Choi Youngjun, and Yoon Hyelim (Pledis performance director). Couldn't find credits specifically for Highlight, but I wouldn't be surprised if Performance Unit worked on it since it was their unit song first and the choreo feels... atypical? in a way that reminds me of Lilili Yabbay which they very much did choreograph themselves.

The original scope for this song was actually just 4 members, the performance unit, that's why more than the other songs the whole point of this one is the choreo. Also you asked about the choreographer, the previous songs up untill now are all credited to Choi Young Jun and Hoshi as far as I know, don't know how much each of them contributed, from watching some shows and interviews it seems like Hoshi often has some cool ideas but he's never talked about handling transitions or formations so it seems to me like that's CYJ's work always and the two of them sort of bring ideas to put into the choreo. For highlight Hoshi actually choreographed the whole thing on his own but that's for the 4 member vertion, i don't know about this one with the 13 of them, it's possible CYJ steped in for that.

something i noticed is that every time they don't have every member they chose to have an even number of members in the group, i guess to respect the look of the original with the 4 members, it's pretty interesting because they could have chosen to go with odd numbers to be more symetrical but they didn't

Gotcha! Thank you so much for the extra insight! I learned that CYJ is the go to choreographer for SVT hence why they have a really great pocket for their choreo and are consistent with staying in sync with each other!

@@jess_holyfield I'm not sure if he was in this case but yeah genereally if it's seventeen and there's all the members then CYJ is a safe bet, solos and performance team things are a bit blurrier but not unlikely to be him.

no hoshi handled formations just as much when he was still one of their main choreographers. he had notebooks just taking note of them

@@karinvasu3005 they were the guinea pigs for this method of watching groups in the best context possible and so far I’ve now done this marathon structure with around 5 groups!
