I feel so bad for the girls. They're getting hate because people think the chorography is awkward for the song :( I also feel bad for the choreographer. Imagine getting to choregraph for a popular artist and people hearing everyone trash your work. The choreo clip going around is just the studio choom clip. I'll be honest and say it does look a little odd at the end there, but I think that's just the set up of studio choom. Most Studio Chooms look weird to me anyway. If people saw the dance practice instead of the Studio Choom, they would see it's not as bad as they think

I love your reaction and your feedback, honestly I agree, people need to chill the f*ck out. Its true that maybe It is a little bit simple, but people have to realize that IVE is a group that focuses more on the vocal side. What makes me sad is the fact that people tend to hate IVE (or popular groups in general) just because they are quite famous, and they tend to say that they are not talented, even tho they really are. The sad part about this is that its not IVE's fault, It is their company's fault, because they choose to make "simple and elegant" choreos (bc thats their concept) and those choreos do not show IVE's potential, they have really good main dancers Yujin and Gaeul (Yujin is the one who has short hair and Gaeul is the one who is wearing a black top in the dance practice) but the whole group is really really limited due to their simplicity. I recommend you to watch their debut Eleven, that dance is one of their dances that are worth to analize. They are not amaizing dancers but they are not bad either. Edit: Ive have been overworked A LOT lately and I also think thats why their energy is really really different than when they debuted, where they were rookies and had fresh energy.

this analysis was really interesting, thanks! i think we're of the same opinion with there being an inherent awkwardness of trying to balance formations for even-membered groups and there being some issues with transitions, etc. which has blown the "ive heya choreo sucks" issue into hyperbole. there are obvious problems with it, but it's really not the worst thing i've seen, even for the specific issues. (but you're so right, the second verse choreo is absolutely the best part) i really enjoy the song, but i can't lie- the promotions have made me feel uncomfortable. the company/group keep pushing that it's a korean traditional concept, when a significant amount of the visuals/elements of the mv are specifically chinese. there's of course some overlap due to hundreds of years of interaction/exchange, etc, but there are still distinctions between korean and chinese culture which have been blurred. off the top of my head, there's the 团扇 (tuanshan, the fan), the opium pipe with the auspicious clouds coming out of it (which is actually kind of high key offensive, lol), the chinese knots as hair accessories, the karst mountains... it just feels like erasure to claim these things as "korean culture" when they're straight up not, and especially hurtful when none of the members know anything about the actual significance/meaning of the items in their mv other than to say it's "pretty" and part of their "unique traditions". i'd be totally fine with them showing chinese culture, it's just insulting when everyone is praising it as being korean. sorry for ranting in your comment section, this was probably not the place to discuss this- it's just been a really frustrating and perplexing week online, where both korean and international kpop fans have been really defensive/agressive about all of this. we're trying to point out what i'd consider a strong case of actual cultural appropriation and we're being told that we don't know our own culture/we're just rabid nationalists/we're ccp bots/it's appreciation so stop making it an issue/china is all cheap and knock-off/korea does it better so shut up/etc... i just had to get this off my chest somewhere where i don't have to argue with a stan about my own culture.

It's been so long since I've been early enough to actually leave a relevant comment, yay! I said before in your community post that I was curious about how such a divisive choreo came about and after watching this video I still don't get it lmao. This is my first time watching the dance and I really liked it, it fits ive 's style very well, they showed some fun attitude and the pictures they created were super cute. I didn't even mind the asymmetrical formations (although I too wish they had implemented more levels in the first half). Ive are not really known for their dancing, and they mostly have this very delicate, almost princess-y type of movement style? They're not the type of group that goes very hard is what I'm saying, so it makes sense that they wouldn't have the same amount of strength in their dancing as a super energetic group like lachica. All in all I've learned that most of the time, unless it's a super egregious case of something going very very wrong, kpop fans cannot be trusted to give their opinions on things. They have this habit of talking like they know more than they actually do, especially when it comes to dancing and singing. At the end of the day the girls are girling just fine, I shouldn't have worried
