Yes there are some fantastic Singers and Bands from Europe, South America, and even Russia that play OTR&R, even though it was created in the U.S.A. It is the Worlds music now , and has been for years. Those groups & Singers are keeping OTR&R more alive than here in the U.S.A.

are you nuts or what!! this is the simpler version of Swing Dancing, and some of the best dance moves in history are from the 20's thru the 50's. Lindy Hop, Charleston, Jitterbug, True Swing Dancing, Jive. Most of the 60's dances like the Twist, Locomotion, Jump and Shout, Robot, Swim were made up from dance moves from those old early styles of dancing. and R&R was created in about 1954 by Chuck Berry, who combined Boogie Woogie, Jazz, Black church music, into what we now call OTR&R. I agree with you on one point, and that is some of the best R&R was recorded in the 60's & early 70's, but it is all based on what Chuck did in 1954, even the Beatles and the Rolling Stones said that there music was based on C Berry's Lil Richard's and Jerry Lee Lewis's style of R&R and they are all early 50's rockers. In 1962 there was an English music show called Dont knock the Rock, and all 3 American founders of OTR&R were there and played for hours, and the Beatles saw the show, and the Stones actually attended it, and both groups have credited them with much of their R&R song styles. done in the 60's.

I sometimes tend to think like that but on the other hand, think about how society was back then...you certainly had not a lot to laugh as a woman, black person, or just imagine being gay living in that era. No thanks

***** you have a great point there. But the thing is, nowadays people get offended at everything. People even got offended by a star wars action figure because they thought princess leia's slave outfit was "sexual." Back then people seem like they had a lot of common sense. And I know a lot of sex happeed and drugs were used even back then, but it's not as praised as it is now. Everywhere you loik there's somethinf that promotes sex and drugs or whatever, and that stuff is everywhere. And that's just only one difference. It would be nice to live in a simple time without as much hate or obsession, and focusing on having everyone in our country pitch in to help make our country the powerhouse it was back then.

+91clarie I was a teen back then and you are wrong. At least where I lived, women were respected more than they are now. We had black people in town and we all got along and back then if you were gay, no one knew and if they suspected, they kept quiet about it. Life was much simpler and being a teenager wasn't the nightmare it is now. there were drugs but not everyone was dumb enough to use them. We had fun as teens-the drive in movies, dances and games at school etc. The times were what they were and each generation has good times and bad. I loved the music from then but I think we have a lot of good things now too. Back then if someone told us that someday we would be able to watch you tube videos of the 50's and 60's we would have laughed. And cell phones and computers???

The Bebop was the dance of the 50's R&R thru the early 60's, and then the Twist, Locomotion, Shout, took over in the early 60's. The dance moves done in this video are NOT the Bebop, but a simpler version of Swing Dancing & Jitterbug.
