That's SHINee for you, pure greatness. And pretty much no one will argue with you on that fact. LOL :D "Sherlock" is a special song that combines 2 songs from SHINee's album "Clue" and "Note." That's why the title of this performance is called "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" If you were to listen to the album you would see that they are two separate songs, but when combined they become "Sherlock." So, what you heard was a mashup of the two songs. (Just like with SuperM's new song "One (Monster & Infinity)") This whole song is about being Sherlock-like detectives so that is why you see them drawing the line on the floor like they are investigating clues and why you see them doing that Sherlock Holmes-style exaggerated march in the dance, etc. The choreography for "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" was created by Tony Testa a very well-known "Hollywood"-famous American choreographer who has also worked with some of the most famous artists, productions and dancers in the world, including Michael Jackson. "Sherlock" was the first time SM (or pretty much anyone in the Kpop industry) had ever used a famous choreographer, and at the time, it was the most expensive Kpop production ever. Once again, SHINee were trendsetters and because of SHINee's skill level, SM became the first to see the value in using a well-known choreographer to help create their dances and to strive for a level of choreography and video production that surpassed anything that had ever been done before. (Now, SHINee -- and numerous SM groups -- have worked with Tony Testa multiple times over the years.) Today it's common place for Kpop companies to have really famous in-house choreographers, and to seek out people in the industry who are really making a name for themselves to choreograph for them, but SHINee was one of the first. If you think this performance was insane, just wait until you see the full concert. They perform like this for 3 hours straight and they never take more than a 5 minute break in between sets to change their clothes and get ready for the next set. If you watched this full set you would see that right after this they immediately follow this song up with their song "Shine" and then their Iconic performance of "Stranger" and then "Picasso." They don't even have a chance to catch their breath, and yet, right after that, when they interact with the audience, they don't even look or sound like the performance has even started. And they do it all while singing live the whole time. :D (You should take the time to watch the full concert DVD sometime, to really understand just how magnificent they are as performers. It's even more mind blowing when you see how unbelievable they are throughout a whole concert. I guarantee you have never experienced anything quite like a SHINee concert before. :D) I recently found where someone has reuploaded the whole concert DVD of SHINee World Concert IV in Seoul -- the whole 3+ hours -- and it even has English subs for all the parts where they interact with the audience, right in the video. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bLqbobJ9ytm5k2g.html It really feels like you are right there at this concert. Actually they redo their openings for every concert, this one they had an adlib bit called SHINee's in the House created from bits of their songs in a bluesy rnb style and then about 5 songs in this particular outfit all of them hard hitters (like Stranger and Sherlock). They even redesigned the iconic Tony Testa choreo a bit because Sherlock (Clue & Note) is a mix of those two songs and the one that was released as the title track and promoted is not the mix they are doing here, so you get Jonghyun's scat and you get him singing the Freeze bit that usually Key sings, they even used different bits of the lyrics in the earlier part. Basically, none of the concert dvds I've seen and I own all the released ones, Japanese or Korean, have had theexact same opening, so far they've always included Replay in their concerts (first time that hasn't happened was the Beyond Live this year) and if a concert was around the release of a certain comeback there are usually lots of songs from that album, but other than that anything can be included, there are so many good songs.

Best intro in a concert. Shinee is back, shinee is in the house, give it up for shinee, really build up the hype. And the choreo, the fire work, the energy bring this performance to another level. And speaking of Sherlock, do you familiar with shinee magic dance? It is when they subtitute the original song with another song that fit with the choreo. Recently I came across Sherlock (dance practice) - I Set Fire (Adele). I never knew it would match. But surprisingly they kinda have the same beat.
