Yes the American Kids won this one; however, the Japanese Kids ENERGY was awesome, they had more of a 80s and early 90s vibe going on, but the GIRL in the YELLOW PANTS, I just loved her the best!

I love the different styles brought to the table by each individual dancer. Keep in mind, these kids are more-so/ more accurately representations of their training locations as opposed to representations of their Countries. That being said, what I loved about the U.S. kids was their joint moments. The planning and execution for all of those moments were nearly flawless. I also loved how many different styles they brought to the table, waving, popping, locking, ticking, gliding, strobing, KRUMP from lil white homie (wasn't expecting that!) , tutting and animation (to name a few). On the flip side, while there were less styles brought to the table primarily (boogaloo-esque movement from the guys and fem/wacking from the girls) I LOVED that the Japanese kids SUPPORTED the U.S. kids the ENTIRE battle. Whenever one of the U.S. kids killed the beat off or demonstrated their superb musicality, the Japanese children supported and gave them props. This was not reciprocated as much on the U.S. side. SO! All in all a very dope battle! SO much talent for kids so young and SO many different styles in full blossom among this next generation. While from a dance / battle standpoint (personally) I would say the U.S. kids took it, from a humanity standpoint the Japanese kids took it with their incredible support and visible love for other dancers, music and movement. They showed that kindness is just as viable a battle tactic and, much more powerful long term than a diss and that is an amazing cultural reflection to impress upon someone. I think we can all learn a lot from both sides :)

@naija player - watch @ 3:49 after the U.S. team combo. - The Japanese kids fully give them props. @ 4;06 - 4:20 ish they totally give him acknowledgement and energy back. They weren't trying to diss him when he approached them. @5:53 they give Kida props on his control. @ 6:10 LOOK how they all acknowledge his beat kill!!! They gave him as much praise as the audience!!! @7:32 they give the breaker claps and applause for his tricks. @10:35 they give lil homie props. and again when he finishes his round. @12:36 They start grooving WITH the U.S and get hype with them!!!. . . . I'm done.... lol... THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT! there are countless examples of how the Japanese kids were clearly dancing from a place of love and acceptance. But go back and Watch the U.S. kids during Japan's rounds. They literally just stare at them the entire time IF they even watch the Japanese child's round. Much of the time they are talking among themselves.... So yes.... It does seem pretty apparent that the Japanese were coming more to SHARE while the U.S. kids were coming more to WIN. Nothing wrong with either, but I have nothing but respect for those Japanese kids.... They really touched me and reminded me what dance is really all about which is SHARING.

Every time a Japanese person would come up to dance the U.S would ignore them completely and the Japanese team would always pay attention and cheered on the U.S team. I think based purely on straight forward dancing the u.s won but Japan has got them so beat on creativity and uniqueness.

The USA kids won because they all possess different styles... Popping, locking, krumping, robotics.. Plus they had complete control of their movements within the styles they possess with the use of dimestops, ticking, freezing in some beat counts, small movements in a wide gesture, etc.. The Japanese have wacking and just straight freestyle but not much control of their movements although they have some musicality.. The only one on the side of japan that have complete control of movements is the one with all those braids and striped black and white shirt because she kept up with the use of speed changes within her style of dance which is wacking....

USA KIDS REPRESENTING THE USA KIDS DEFINITELY WON BIG TIME
@falcorules
@falcorules 7 жыл бұрын
Unlike most people here I would give the match to Japan even though they were very close. The USA kids had great body control and precision and utilized different dance styles greatly in their routine and freestyle. However one thing they lacked was the groove and funk the Japanese had, which in my opinion is a lot harder than the technique shown by the USA kids. Remember, you can teach technique but you can't teach someone how to groove. All in all Japanese had the get down and USA had the throw down. There are also some people calling the dance style of the Japanese kids "weird". That's old school hip hop guys, the reason why they're moving like that is from where the name originated from (Bouncing of the and rocking of the hip hence, "hip hop"). USA kids would benefit from the Japanese by learning to relax and groove and the Japanese would benefit from learning the different intricate techniques shown by the Americans.
@kovuBee
@kovuBee 7 жыл бұрын
I can't really speak for the Japan kids, but I do know the US kids there definitely can grove. I think it's actually harder to street dance, than to groove, so I give the US that. Trust me the technique that some of kids are doing is not easy, they make it look easy. I do have to say, I think the Japan kids should be getting more credit than a lot of people here are giving them though because they had some good moves and musicality too.
@falcorules
@falcorules 7 жыл бұрын
Dancing in general is all groove how you show that groove should be shown in your dance. To me it seems like the USA kids are focusing mostly on the beat of the music while the Japanese kids were feeling it out more. Watch the Japanese girl in the black and white stripped shirt at 9:16. For some of the dancers on the USA side, some of their movements don't correlate to the music.
@falcorules
@falcorules 7 жыл бұрын
I would like to add something else, i've been popping for a few years now and am just learning locking and I can say with confidence, "you can train the technique but you can never fake the funk."
@kovuBee
@kovuBee 7 жыл бұрын
Babywockee, the first to dance for the US was grooving. From what I've seen, the groove in hip hop dance comes very natural to a lot of people and it's a lot more common to see. I see people grooving all the time who aren't even necessarily dancers. People groove to music everywhere, especially now that hip hop is such a popular thing nowadays. Making clean pops, small waves, doing isolations and having good body control and even just break dancing takes years to get very good at and those US kids have clearly put in that time. I think the US kids dances fit with the music very well, and their musicality was amazing and most of them were able to fit some grooving in their round along with their technique. Japan had good musicality too and definitely showed their energy. US is doing their main styles, while Japan is doing theirs. I've been watching these US kids for awhile though, and if they wanted to groove instead of street dance, they could and would
@kovuBee
@kovuBee 7 жыл бұрын
I think people in the comment section are going more crazy about the US team, is because the recognize the moves more and know the complexity. One of the main things I look for in dance battles is musicality, and since the US kids showed more body control, I think it was evident when they had good musicality. Japan did have musicality though, it's just different from what we're used to, so it's easier for people to compliment the US

Man, if this is how these kids dance now, I can't imagine what they will be dancing like 10 years from now. Had no clue that was the "Babywockee" that went first for the US from Jabba's Devestating Stereo performance until I read the description. The Japanese crew had sooo much energy, especially the girl w/ the braids and yellow "MC Hammer" pants. But the girl that went 1st really kicked it off. Not sure why she didn't dance more, she had moves and had a great spirit about her. She had a smile on her face the entire time and would cheer on the other crew just as much her own which shows she just appreciates dance. The 2 bboys on US killed it, Gavin and not sure the other one's name, but he could bboy and dance which was really impressive. This was a close battle w/ the 2 bboys and the girl w/ braids. Japan didn't have a response to the bboys and the US didn't have a response to the voguing/waving , Japan seemed like they had more energy and all of them were on a more consistent level than the US crew (hate to go against my own country, but just one man's opinion). But this was fun to watch

Definitely going to try to get my kids into dance when I do have them. Better yet hope it's in their genes to like it .Popping specifically.

I wonder why the girl in the purple pants didn't dance more. You can tell she has skills when you see her slightly dancing during others turns. Specifically it looks like she's good at popping based of what she was doing during Jujubeatz solo.
