I’m excited for this documentary because this cult is real. All these dancers are so ridiculously talented and yet are doing the same handful of choreography to the same handful of oldies, and always posted or credited to Isaiah Shinn who is Robert Shinn’s son (head of the church). That’s just the tip of what’s odd. These dancers deserve better.

EDIT: watched the documentary, Katie Joy is NOT interviewed. Some of her social media posts appear on screen a few times but they represent a matter of seconds of the 3 episode documentary. You can all go rage elsewhere. 😊 Regardless of whoever Katie Joy is, I’ve read the reviews from news sources and they interview several former members of the cult who have left. This sounds like Classic Cult 101. Just because they interview one shady person does not negate the experiences of the members who left. It’s interesting because I’ve gotten bombarded with videos from Miranda and her husband on Instagram on my feed (I don’t follow either of them). Both very good looking, great dancers, fun videos. I didn’t think much about it but there is always more than meets the eye online.

If anyone sees my comment, I don’t want to discredit anybody’s feelings because I don’t know about the drama about withoutacrystalball but the one part where she is mentioned is when the documentary is narrating how many people were talking about Robert Shinn (not just her) from the video that Miranda’s family made. She appears from 53:15 to 53:20 and 53:33 to 53:40 of the first episode. The other information/research comes from other dancers that were from 7M management/Shekinah, ex-members of Shekinah, audio/video recordings of Robert’s sermons, Miranada’s parents and sister, another set of parents of a dancer that is in 7M management that are going through the same issues, and one or two pictures from an ex-member named Priscilla. This information is just from the first two episodes, I haven’t watched the third yet.

So the takeaway. No one has common sense anymore😂😂😂

Ok I'm first going to state to the victims in this docuseries I'm sorry. I'm sorry that you feel like you could trust Katie Joy Paulson of Without A Crystal Ball with your stories. I'm not here to discredit people who feel like they are victims or say this isn't a cult because I honestly have no idea. However I'm very disappointed to see that Netflix has decided to air this without seemingly doing any background research into Katie and her very problematic ways. These people sharing their stories thinking they could actually trust WOACB with anything sucks to see because she is NOT an advocate for victims. Katherine Joy Paulson of Without A Crystal Ball LLC is best described as a trauma vulture. She attaches herself onto popular news stories like a leech and takes things too far and ends up exploiting these people in their vulnerable situations and makes money off of the topic while it's being discussed online currently. Then she'll jump to the next thing and do it all over again when the views start to go down. I know Katie loves to say that anyone who disagrees with her is a troll, part of the cult, just a hater and any other number of excuses she has for people who disagree with her and dare to criticize her. I know this because I was not only a subscriber but an actual paying member of her channel. And when I disagreed with her enough in chats and pushed back at her, I was blocked and was no longer allowed to chat. Even though I was a paying member for months before I noticed and even after that, trying to give het the benefit of the doubt. There are many channels dedicated to calling out her lies and problematic behaviours. But there are 2 situations i want to post here as this is dealing with victims. The first is the situation involving a young girl named SL. While the story was still unfolding a video went viral. This young girl was saying she was a victim of SA. Given that she was just a child, no one should question her credibility and the story and allow the authorities to get to the bottom of things. Now thankfully authorities investigated and discovered it was a story made up by her father over custody issues. But at the time Katie had no clue, like the rest of us, whether this situation was real or not. But Katie decided to question the little girls story and call her a brat. Now Katie loves to claim that the evidence of this Livestream, because it is just a clip, is somehow taken out of context. That is a lie. I was in that stream that night and while she might have been reading someone's comment of saying I think she's being a brat. Katie responds with "ya I think she's just being bratty. She goes from crying to fine, crying to fine. It reminds me of when my son pitches a fit". Many people including myself took issue with this statement because regardless, a young child was crying and making serious accusations. You never want to doubt a child who has claimed to have suffered like that. But Katie discussed the girls acting lessons and equated that to her behaviour in the video and ultimately questioned her whole story. To me, you never second guess a child saying that. I would much prefer they investigate and determine it was false then letting an innocent child suffer like that. So this is my first example of her not truly being about advocating for the victim. Second is involving a man who happened to jump into a live stream and chat. He caught Katie's attention so he without thinking too much about it or doing a Google search on her, he came in and had a conversation with Katie. However this man deals quite closely with vulnerable people and others advocating and bringing awareness to cults. So Preacher Boy decided to do some research into Katie himself after he had received quite a few messages that concerned him. What he learned he said didn't align with his views and methods of how he runs his channel and the work that he does. So he very politely apologized to his audience and followers as he said he was unaware of who exactly Katie was at the time he joined the live. It was very spur the moment and he didn't have time to look into her, which is something he always does he stated. Well Katie didn't take too kindly to being rejected, and decided to go on Instagram live and start bashing this man publicly. He simply made an error of not researching someone who he talked to before hand. Well Katie in this live was just dragging and bashing him and blaming the haters for contacting him. She couldn't, nor can she ever, take accountability for herself. It was her own actions and behaviours online that caused this man hesitation and decided not to work with her anymore. She then had the audacity to accuse this man of abusing his wife by claiming men of this cult have deep rooted issues and clearly he still has much work to do. It was absolutely disgusting. I mean I could go on and on. Gabby Petito, Marvon McCray, Garrison Brown. Releasing private messages between her and Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans Eason, a DV victim, all because she couldn't break the cycle yet and ended up going back with her abuser. Endangering not just Jenelle's life but her children's lives as well releasing messages of Jenelle confiding in her regarding injuries she sustained. It was already publicly known and very speculated on that things were still happening behind closed doors. Katie claims to be a journalist and so called reporter. But she told Jenelle those messages were off the record and when Jenelle decided to take him back, rather than extend private support to a DV victim, she chose to plaster all of these confidential messages on her public KZfaq channel and other social media platforms. These are just some of the stories that are out there that have occurred. Again, I say all of this because Katie Joy is not to be trusted. At the end of the day, just like the Tati Westbrook story and information she thought she had from Clark Swanson, she is most concerned with being the first to break the story. She wants credit and her name to be quoted in everything and she'll scream it from the rooftops if you snub her or she broke a story first and feels like she deserves more credit than what she's getting. IMO this woman is dangerous and is not an advocate for victims. But rather she looks for vulnerable people and groups to make nice with and use their stories to make money off of. Exploit their stories, get clicks and views but at no point does she help these people connect with proper resources. It's all about her getting the juicy gossip and details but in the past has made clear she doesn't connect people to resources who ask. So how exactly is she an advocate for victims? My final comment if you've made it this far will be this. When i discovered Katie's channel I was struggling with having just been freed myself. I'm a survivor of SA/DV and finding a community I thought was fighting for the victims made me feel safe and special. I'm not posting all of this because I hate her or am wanting to bash her. I just don't want any other victims fooled by Katie's words because her actions and her words don't add up. To Netflix, I truly hope you consider putting a warning regarding this woman's involvement, if not pulling this altogether. It sucks for those that want to share their stories. But Katie's involvement at all with this project taints the whole thing in my opinion. Please research her before crediting her when you list the description on Netflix. Edit: ***I also want to make a correction. I was writing this at night, passionately and in my feelings. I have been made aware of some information involving the SL situation. I forgot that it was not confirmed whether the allegations SL made were false and/ or forced by her father. Towards the end of this case I couldn't keep up and decided to no longer follow things closely. The public made an assumption given how things unfolded with the father, that they were likely not true. The father ended up going on the run with SL and they became missing people. When SL was safely returned, she was not taken home to the mother but was returned home to a third party, family member. The allegations were against the mothers boyfriend/ step father. The findings in the investigation have not been made public regarding whether there was any truth to the accusations or not, to my understanding. This case involves a minor and I assume the case is sealed to the public. I want to make it clear that I did not mean to take anything away from SL's heartbreaking video and accusations. I understand she has been put through so much regardless if the allegations have been found to be false or not. I made in clear in my comment that no one should doubt a child's story and I believe that. This young girl deserves to heal and receive help and therapy out of the public eye. The public wouldn't even be aware of things if the father hadn't posted the video and the mother hadn't released the minors medical records to Katie, who then made a video on KZfaq about it. Regardless of how the investigation turned out, this girl deserves privacy and a normal life. I don't care the outcome of this case because it's none of our business. I just wanted to correct or clarify, whatever you want to call it that it has not been proven as fact that the allegations were false and made up, it was simply speculation from the public. To me it doesn't matter, the only thing that matters is that she is safe and can go back to being a kid. I hope to no longer hear about SL and she can go back to living her life and healing from her trauma, whatever that may be. She deserves privacy and peace. Fingers crossed I no longer hear about SL ever again, unless she decides to come out publicly as an adult and speak about her situation. But I did not mean to take anything away from SL and her experience and to add we don't know all the details that occurred. I wish SL nothing but the best in life.

It’s really hard to take this documentary seriously when involving somebody like Katie Joy Paulson from WOACB. I am not coming from a religious place, some made up hate group, or malice, I am someone who is truly for victims of many kinds. How can she claim to be an activist for women in cults… and then ridicule, degrade, bully and shame the same women when finally breaking free. I have watched her shame and insight hate on a former cult member for having a medical procedure after enduring a heartbreaking miscarriage. She literally made a video shaming the woman for having the procedure, knowing where her faith was, told everyone it was really an a6ort10n!! This young woman’s social media was being Berated with accusations of the above and telling her she offed HER BABY😢😢 And then Katie went on to engage in making sm posts giving a medical description of the procedure and said the DNC was technically an ab0r710n, I cannot begin to imagine what this woman went through after seeing the hate mob. The young woman took a sm break after the incident. I can think of hundreds of videos where Katie pokes fun at women in cults and even when they do break free(as she claims she wants them to)she then dissects their every move. Not to encourage, standby or send love, but to then shame, degrade and hatefully pick apart their choices. Not that growing up in a cult would take time to rid themselves of their ways… nope. These women breaking free and in the spotlight, better act exactly how Katie needs them to, or she will be there with her following, to shame, bully and ridicule them into, being exactly who she needs them to be.
