THIS!!! This is 'Au’a ’ia performed by Halau Ka Lei Mokihana o Leina’ala on the island of Kauai - and to create this scene we had them perform this Hula several times hahaha. SO SORRY GIRLS - MAHALO YOU!! My vision for this scene was to showcase a complete hula performance as the climax of our film, highlighting the beauty of each movement on screen. As a director - it's an incredibly exciting, and humbling feeling, to watch your idea come to life through the talent of others. The way this scene came together exceeded my imagination. And that is all thanks to our director of photography Nainoa Langer - Our Editor Drew Longest - The Halau - and Kumu Leina'ala.
