The Breakfast Club (1985) SYNOPSIS: Five high school students from different walks of life endure a Saturday detention under a power-hungry principal (Paul Gleason). The disparate group includes rebel John (Judd Nelson), princess Claire (Molly Ringwald), outcast Allison (Ally Sheedy), brainy Brian (Anthony Michael Hall) and Andrew (Emilio Estevez), the jock. Each has a chance to tell his or her story, making the others see them a little differently -- and when the day ends, they question whether school will ever be the same.

I like how even the song choice reflects the movie, like it’s catchy and upbeat but the lyrics are about how nobody’s as different as they think from one another.

I watched it in the theater and it was so good. It hadn't been that long since I had graduated so most of these characters really did represent the types of kids that were in high school. Personally I hated high school so I was probably ally sheedy's character just hiding enough to get through unscathed.

After a 22 minute scene of confessionals, this scene is catharis - total 'get it out of your system.' When you have revealed yourself, no one feels like they'll be attacked anymore - so they cut loose. Total fucking freedom! Bless you John Hughes!

My 5 year old loves 80s music and we just were listening to sunglasses at night and she started doing the famous breakfast club walk and i was cracking up! Of course i started doing it with her. Shes never seen this before so she just started doing it on her own which is the best part

Originally, this scene was supposed to be just Molly RIngwald dancing, but she was embarrassed to dance by herself. So, director John Hughes told the rest of them to go out and dance with her. There was no choreography. It was all pretty much ad-lib.

I love how each of their dancing styles is a reflection of their personalities. - Claire is happy go lucky steps. - Andrew's moving like a rock star. - John is wild and unpredictable. - Allison dark, almost channeling something in her movements. - Brian has a bit of geeky funk that finally found some comfort in his skin to just move with the music. But then, somewhere in-between, they join together a few times to move in unison with their newfound friendship.
