This is such a poor design but I finally got it working with the help of this video. Holding the inner sleeve with the screwdriver was a bit tough at the end...there really should be a special tool included that can fit between the wall and the sleeve or they just need to redesign the whole thing so it isn't so difficult. I'll add that the telfon tap should be put on the outer sleeve threads before you test the diverter out....I don't think my leak behind the spout was the o-ring, it was the gap between the outer sleeve threads and the diverter.

Bought a new one to replace and I have much more experience now with tools and DIYing things. I now realized I put it on the wrong way and much more difficult. Thanks for the video again.

This was a great tutorial. Thanks for your help. My problem is bit more complicated. I don't have a straight piece of copper pipe coming through my wall and will have to get behind the wall to complete the needed repair. Iyt looks like I will need to extend my pipe to be able to install this faucet.

Do yourself a favor and spend a little more on the Moen spout. I wrestled with the Danco for an hour. Took it back and had the Moen installed in 5 minutes. Super simple.

Thanks much! One small detail missing. The size of the hex key to remove the hex nut on Moen faucets is 5/32. Took me forever to find the right key.

Nice try. I installed one of these, and had constant leaks. I called Danco, actually got really good customer service, and troubleshooted the issue. Turns out the rubber gasket does not sit properly when the adaptor is put on the copper pipe (compare how it fits on the adapter when it's not on the pipe--it has to fit snugly into the groove, but it's hard to tuck into that groove after the adapter is put on the pipe). Hence constant leaks out the back. Customer service is sending me another whole assembly, so maybe that will work better. I'm surprised you didn't turn the water on in your video, that would have been revealing. I'm also surprised you didn't caulk the hole where the pipe comes out before you put the spout on! That's going to leave some damage behind the wall if there are any leaks.

I bought this kit about a month ago and something to note is that it does not come with the same style adapter parts now. So you may find this video does not match the most up to date parts or installation instructions.

This unit is a pain to install. I have no idea what you did with a "tiny screwdriver" but the slot keeps moving on the copper and the holes never line up. What's worse is not tight enough to keep water out. This is a problem from the mount moving oune the copper when you tighten the neck. Just never worked for me. Very disappointed with this product.

Is it just me? But when I got the chrome it doesn't come with nothing but the extension nipple, but the nickel comes with the extension nipple and o ring, adapter, and the retainer?

I just did mines. But now watching your video confuse me. I did not did all the extra desembling steps you did. Althought i guess my universal spout is a little different as i had to use an alan wrench instead. But any ways after cutting my copper stub out to 2inch and cleaning it as necessary, it was a straight forward installation. Pretty much like this, slip on plastic tube to copper pipe, lock it in, and screw on spout until it touches the wall, and then caulk as necessary. Already working as it should, with no leaks yet. Hopefully none for a long time.

Danco instruction sheet says to turn so screw is on bottom then tighten!!

The set screw should be in the six o’clock position!

The problem I had is not seeing the set screw. We couldn't turn the spout. ZERO channels actually cover that process.

My spout wont get flush w the wall. The is a tiny space. When I test it out water shoots out from the sides. Fml

mine leaks everywhere.... also no way to tighten the thing onto the adapter when it will just turn all over the place... water coming out where the screw goes thru, also scratched up my water pipe because I couldn't get it back apart and that screw scraped the pipe....this is a bad design. not sure why I am having trouble with it it seems so simple but mine is now far worse off than it was.

Great video. The instructions didn't make sense so I came to KZfaq hoping to find instructions and I now have a working shower again. I will say that I cannot believe the manufacturer didn't pre-drill the hole for the collar screw. I'm old and had to get out a drill as I couldn't punch it though. Will definitely not buy Danco again.
