Our 1998 Dandy Destiny Folding Camper is now up for sale, as we now have a newer unit.
We have now purchased a later Dandy and here is a rare chance to get your hands on a 1998 Dandy Destiny.
This was one of the later light blue models ever made.
We have owned this one (our third Dandy) for 6 years, and it appears on many KZfaq videos, and you can look at my KZfaq channel, to see the fun we have had in it.
We camp all year round, and in the last 3 years, have camped every single month of the year in it.
It is wintereised, keeping you nice and snug and warm in winter time, and it also reflects the sun keeping you cool in the hot summer months.
Its 6 berth with seats that can make up to 3 double beds, or lots of other combinations as you will see in the photos and videos.
It has a expensive Propex blow air gas heater, that runs of 12 volts, if you’re not hooked up on electric. The heater controls are right next to the bed.
We have not used this much as most times when we are away we are on EHU (Electric Hook Up) and we use a convector heater which is a brilliant way to heat up the Dandy.
This Dandy can be run on 240 volts (mains EHU) or runs on 12 volts via the leisure battery that comes with it.
It has a 3 way fridge with a freezer compartment that is fully working.
An electric water pump with an outside quick connect whale pump. It also has a cooker with 4 gas rings, and a grill (hardly used). Everything is clean and tidy and working.
This model has double glazed PVC light weight windows (the earlier models are glass).
It has a wardrobe that can also have 3 shelves (included) Lots of storage space under the kitchen unit, and a 3 drawer cabinet for even more storage.
Lift up the side seats, and loads more storage can be found.
Above curtain pelmets for the main Dandy are included, and we are also letting go the original Dandy roof lining for that extra bit of Dandy camping luxury.
We fitted an external awning rail so you can very quickly attach a light weight porch awning to the Dandy.
And we are also including a FULL size original Dandy PVC awning (highly sought after) We have only used this once, and it’s not been out of the bag for over 5 years, so no doubt it will need a good cleaning once it’s out and un-bagged. The awning comes with it’s original Dandy Awning curtains.
The list goes on, we custom made a full set of blue seat and mattress covers that just Velcro on/off which wash and brush off easily.
And this Destiny comes complete with two pairs of privacy curtains.
Included are a clean and a waste water container, and connectors.
Also included is a long EHU cable.
Plus it also has a spare transit cover.
It’s easy to tow, and can be fully put up and taken down in less than 15 minutes.
Just add your sleeping stuff, kettle and crockery and you are ready to go.
The tow hitch also has a security lock.
The tyres on the Dandy are new, and it come with TWO spare wheels, and new tyres.
The Destiny was fully serviced this summer (2015) by Ian at Dandy Riva.
All the bungee cords have been replaced (summer 2015)
The bad points? Well this Dandy was made in 1998 and has been used by us a LOT, the external body work has a number of dings and dangs and scuffs, nothing at all major. There is a scuff on a corner on the kitchen unit, where our dog gnawed it! A couple of under seat hinges could do with being replaced, very quick, and cheap to do. Everything is working and the buyer of this is going to be very proud, and it has decades of life left in it.
The luxury of a caravan, but easier and lighter to tow, saves money!
The PVC materiel does not rot, and you can easily take down the unit when wet and not have to worry about canvas rotting.
We have cleaned the Dandy, unfortunately it was an ice cold day which meant things were tricky to do the best job, but it will clean up easily when the weather warms up.
