Halo has been such a big part of my life and my friendships that I just couldn't not react to this when I seen VoicePlay was being joined once more by Scott Porter, to perform this song. I hope you enjoy my reaction to the Halo Theme.

Such incredible harmonies in this! VoicePlay always sounds so good but this.........and the fact it's a tribute to Rek just makes it even more special. It's always great to look back and remember the companionships and friendships we've had/gained over the years.

As you were telling us of your connection with the music, I knew you were going to connect with the message of the video in a very visceral way. It's a remarkable song, a beautiful tribute, and an experience I think is more universal than many of us non-gamers realize. I'm glad you had Halo as a connection to your friends when you needed it, and that the game was able to serve others in the same way. Wonder if the developers knew the profound impact it could (and would) have when they created it.

YEAH! So I don't know if they KNEW, or if developers today take it for granted. But gamers LOVE Co-Op and Multi-Player, when you can team-up with your friends, and have fun. Today Multiplayer is globally competitive, and that's what it's about. But while it's always been an us-vs-them kind of thing, it wasn't as "serious" as it is today, and it was more about having fun with your friends. Even before X-Box Live, like with the original Halo, it was friends playing together on one screen... what we refer to as "couch co-op, or couch multiplayer". And be it Halo, Mario Kart, Golden-Eye. I remember so many weekends having friends over and playing videogames with a big group of people in to the wee hours of the night. And yeah, it really brought people together, especially now with online stuff? It's crazy. Look at us here on KZfaq, and how many of us bond over music through these reaction videos that myself and quite a few others do. Its the same thing. You can make real lasting friendships by just finding the right people to play with on Call of Duty. And I think if you find any gamer, they can tell you similar stories of how impactful some game or another may have been in their lives, through playing multiplayer with their friends. I think one of the goals in making a game like this, has to be trying to figure out fun game modes that friends can play together too though. So while Bungie (The Dev) may never have intended or known the impact Halo was going to have, by doing their job right, they ensured that impact.

Thanks for sharing some Dan tidbits and memories with us. It added a whole new level to a touching story by Voiceplay band mates. Video games and books were my personal refuge as a kid and later became a way to connect with my brother 10 years younger.and later my son who discovered a love for them. Spent a lot of my life hanging out on the floor playing solo or playing side by side with family. So many memories. I discovered Halo when my son got his Xbox and intend on finishing out story campaigns up until I have to hang up my controllers due to old age. Nice to know there are others gamers out there with their own stories. VoicePlay has been killing it lately. Looking forward to more reactions and what comes next.

Thank you for listening to Scott Porter's dedication uninterrupted. Too many reviewers chopped that whole piece off. It meant a LOT to the members of VP and it was a great tribute. Amazing how the experience parallels your own. Peace.

This is a wonderful tribute to their friend Rek Dunn Jr. I thought Scott was awesome in the last season of Lucifer. This makes me cry every time.

I think this video. Has touched so many hearts because it is such a beautiful tribute. Rek was the man who handed them the sub sandwich in Boy Bands in Five Minutes.

Oh my, so much of what you told us in the beginning is what Scott says the game meant to them. I’ve heard Scott’s several times, hearing you speak about that same impact of the game was quite emotional to hear!

The original composer of the Halo theme, Martin O'Donnell, liked and commented on VoicePlay's cover, too: an awesome compliment to them. Another KZfaq reactor, The Charismatic Voice, who frequently reacts to VoicePlay is planning on teaming up with Mr. O'Donnell, who is a friend or acquaintance of hers to do a joint reaction video. That would be worth seeing when that drops. Also, Scott Porter is featured in the final season (Season 6) of the Netflix series "Lucifer" as Detective Corbett which was released this past September.

I never played Halo, I gave up with Pac-Man ( yes I'm that old) but the minute I heard this i fell in love with it. Such a wonderful tribute to their friend. I tear up every time l listen to it.

I’m not a video gamer, but I can understand about how important friends are when you’re growing up and having those neighborhood friends that you bond with for years. Sadly, many of us lose touch after we move away after getting married, then life takes off after having children. Sadly, I lost touch with all of them, but did reconnect via Facebook years ago. This video, aside from the video game aspect, is off the chain great! It was extremely enjoyable with all of the elements like the bell tones and the individual guys appearing on screen with the bell tone notes, the morphing, Cesar with the vocal parts he performed were really amazing! When you were talking about your friends and how you all played the game online and found that way to connect with each other made think “Uh, oh!” He’s going to be sad when he sees Scott talking at the end. I can imagine that would bring up some old memories.. Another day! You’re right, though! Not good to bottle up those emotions, but you said you had to for the moment. Understandably so! Just get your good cry out when you get back home later! Seriously! I enjoyed your reaction to the video and your review!

Though I never played Halo before, we had a Xbox growing up (my brother and I were pretty young - I was 11 and my brother was 7 - so we had games like lego star wars and crash bandicoot and stuff) and when my mom got sick and my parents were at the hospital a lot, the Xbox was there for us to bond over and be together and it definitely helped us stay somewhat sane in all the craziness around us, so I totally understand where you come from and everytime I hear Scott it brings me to tears (I watches it well over 10 times). Thank you for your reaction, I absolutely love your channel and I'm glad that you liked it even with all the changes to the original. FYI Halo tweeted Voiceplay saying they liked their version :)

Loved your sign off, but clear eyes is a little difficult on this one. I never played Halo, but every time I hear Scott’s dedication I tear up. Rek was a graphic artist that did a lot of their cover art and helped on video shoots. He even appeared as a walk on in a couple. But mostly they were the best of friends.

You could tell after a few minutes you were going to get emotional. I don't care what they say I cry when it hits me no matter where or when. You can't be a complete person unless you feel all your emotions. You just need to learn how to balance them
