Awesome review guys, am kind of speechless, don’t know what to write and yet wanting to let you know I was here and appreciated it. Next Taare Zameen Par, we have to get Korbin to cry and if that does not do it, we will get in touch with Aamir Khan to make a movie about military or dogs just to make him cry. Korbin is getting better at expressing himself and Rick is already an Indian.

For me Aamir's best scene was when his daughter defeats him in the practice where they argue and challenge each other.

Indian parents are like that, they get scared if they say they are proud of their kids, the kids will get spoiled. Many times it's a good cop bad cop situation too. Like one parent is linient and the other one is strict. It's just the cultural thing I guess. But they love their kids and the sacrifices they do for their kids is just amazing.

About Father not praising the daughter until she wins the gold medal... You need to know he clearly said in the movie that he can't play both roles as Father and Teacher/Coach, he should choose one of them and he choose to be their Teacher, who is encouraging but strict. In the film, the moment she won, he was a father who can express his feelings not their Teacher. I feel there are far more layers shown with subtlety that I can make a whole list of debate points. 😆 From what I got to know, the father in real life is far more strict than showed in the movie and not at all expressive but you can tell he loves his daughters.

Rick - whats the trick to not to cry after watching such a good films ? Korbin - simple, whenever someone asks you did you cry, just answer no, thats all.

I know you guys are currently exploring the big, dramatic Bollywood films right now (which Aamir Khan definitely does best) but I'd love to see your reactions to more understated but beautiful films like The Lunchbox and Masaan. And other films with Irrfan Khan and/or Nawazuddin Siddiqui. I think Korbin might like those more than the blockbuster masala films.

Great Review! You guys should start watching Malayalam movies now. Technically and content/storywise, Films coming out of Kerala are shattering bases everywhere. An indicative list: Drishyam, Ustad Hotel, 22 Female Kottayam, Mumbai Police, North 24 Kaatham, Munnariyippu, Charlie, Angamaly Diaries, Maheshinte Prathikaram, Sudani from Nigeria, Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, Kumbalangi Nights. Coming back to Aamir Khan- Watch "Talaash". An intriguing movie that went kinda unnoticed I feel, but one of his best.

What's also noteworthy is the fact that these girls are from the Indian state of Haryaya. They have one of the most skewed male-female sex ratio in the country. Illegal pre-natal sex determination, female foeticide etc. So Aamir to bring up the girl-boy-no-bar context is, for me, one of the reasons why this movie will go down as epic in Indian movie history.

Watch & review a old move - the creation of the perfectionist legend called Amir Khan, with his first body transformation, in the movie called "Ghajini" if its available with english subtitles in netflix. Earlier he was a guy with zero muscles, very very boyish looks, almost like a high school guy. I dont want to give a hint about what the movie is about as it would ruin ur experience. One of Aamir's earliest production 'Lagaan' was nominated for the Oscars. In the foreign films category. It didnt win though. I think it was 2002. You should review that. And of course, Dil chahta hai and Ghajini. brilliant performances by Aamir Khan.

One thing about AUSTRALIAN SPORTSMEN/ATHLETES: We Indians play a lot of Cricket with them, and they are obnoxious, rude, cheaters, un-sportsmen like, never missing a change to sledge ( pass negative comments to opposition players while on the field of play), and all these are a matter of official policy. They have had this month of 'jungle' survival camp, where they battle nature, critters and wild animals to get out their 'aggression,' and they ultimately bring that to the field of play. They sledge teams from England, South Africa, even their immediate mild-mannered neighbors New Zealand. That scene in the movie was of course is an exaggeration, but not very far from the behavior of Australian players/ athletes. Their recently suspended (cheating!) Cricket team captain exposed how the CEO of Cricket Australia always gave the players only one option-- WIN AT ALL COSTS! About the last scene when the father is locked in the room. The timeline was different. The national coach threatened to sue Amir Khan and he confessed that the locking event happened earlier, but for the 'dramatic emotional' effect he took liberties and added it to the 'major' event.

Watch video where the girls train with a ex-national coach, to play the characters. All of them had to learn to wrestle (from scratch) and even train with the national champions before the movie shooting began.
