It’s ironic that this seasons intro had the most peaceful intro and yet the season itself was the most disturbing thing ever-

idk why but this intro makes me SUPER happy

I love that the more episodes you go into the intro changes to darker colours and the characters have red eyes to show that the despair is growing. Hajime also starts to fade into Kamakura's hair.

Chiaki was the only icon that was truly hope. Even at the expense of her own life, she tried to save her friends! I hope she finds happiness in the heaven of the anime world

I love the symbolism. Junko holding them in her hands is that she has them in the palm of her hands, and that they're on the side of despair. Her blowing them away is scattering the remnants of despair to plunge the entire world into despair. Awesome OP, best of Danganronpa.

Six years after I watched Danganronpa 3, I still think this is one of the best anime OPs ever crafted. It's difficult for me to explain why, but I'll try my best. The vocals are so soft and emotional, and especially during the later episodes it really does make everything that happens much more gripping. Seeing Mikan slowly falling to despair alongside this OP hurt my soul. Seeing Chiaki die and then having this OP play the next episode genuinely made me sob all over again. It feels like this song is soft and hopeful, but at the same time it feels like there is nothing but despair. I don't know how this is possible, but holy hell it works beautifully.

WTF THIS ANIME CAME OUT 7 YEARS AGO??? Time truly does fly.. I remember when this anime came out and I would NOT stop listening to the opening. I had to ascend to the heavens every time it came on.

Despite the fact that I’m long past my Danganronpa phase, this OP makes me nostalgic as hell and makes me miss my DR phase. I remember binging this entire anime and the OVA during quarantine due to my hyper fixation on the series 🥲

This is genuinely one of my favorite anime openings ever, and it's almost entirely because of how much symbolism there is in both versions of it.

Ironically this song is probably the most fitting for a danganronpa animation. It sounds calm, but upon reading the lyrics it’s much darker than the first look, that as well as the animation changing as the season progresses, becoming darker with more touches of despair

This is one of my favorite anime openings. It's so emotional and yet so calming at the same time.

I JUST finished the anime! (I might be a little late) but omg am I glad I sat down one day and just remembered all of Danganronpa existed.

I love the symbolism of Nagito being the only one alone at 0:30 cause he stands apart from everyone else in terms of both allegiance and ideology.

Junko is a really beautifull character. She represents our longing for despair, for if all you feel is hope, you grow numb to it. That is why her message resonated with so many people, to the point where she was able to take over the entire world. Even if Junko herself is kind of a flat character, in a way she kind of needed to be, that is because she is almost metaphorical, so giving her a backstory would give her ulterior motives to an otherwise universal message. That is why, regardless of how you interpret the ending of V3 (spoilers for V3 btw), it depicts a world that has grown so sick of hope that they have to create fictional despair. There is no hope without despair, which is why society as a whole rejected the idea of an entirety peaceful world. Hence why ultimately the message of the franchise was to reject hope and despair, to reject Danganronpa.

Beautiful intro, with the bright colors of the untainted 77th class turning into bringers of black darkness with just a little "push" from Junko. And poor, lovely Chiaki at the end. Her heart and soul could not be tainted and thus had to be destroyed. Her selfless courage and love became the blades that severed her friends from despair.

Despair arc is a must watch to anyone who loves Danganronpa. It was so freaking good. 10/10

I can't believe people are discovering Danganronpa! alot of my friends asked me about the correct watch order of DR and i couldnt get more happier I used to play/watch the whole series back in 2016 and I had no one to talk to about it. Now that people are discovering the anime plus the game I just want to say that I'm proud and happy. My favorite character is Gundham Tanaka! He is my pure baby

This arc was the most heartbreaking and disturbing. The op itself fools you into thinking its happy go lucky. However thats the point, as we all know that because it sounds so peaceful is EXACTLY whats makes us so disturbed to see the kind of horrific shit Junko does to these people.

I honestly love this anime season of Danganronpa so much- I'm so obsessed with it that I have a blanket of the Dr3: Despair Arc official art, and I have this as my ringtone. You don't know how much of an emotional rollercoaster I went on while watching this-

1:00 Lol, when I first time saw it, I thought that left is Makoto and right is new despair antagonist.

So after having played both danganropa v1 and v2 in the game series and watching the anime, I remember the first time hearing this anime intro for this season in the series, and seeing the visuals for it, and it just gave me chills. Because its so beautiful yet very sad and depressing at the same time, especially because you ultimately know the outcome for all of these students in the future. You get to get a glimpse into their life before junko. They were honestly just normal loving highschool students, who were almost like family. And to see how drastically they've strayed from their true selves is utterly heartbreaking.. seeing them fall in the intro is almost like an metaphor or take on "the fallen", as in the fallen angels that were corrupted. Well written! Truly bittersweet though.
