"Back in the day..." Most all COs wanted you to be at least an E4 before signing off on R.S. unless you went 11X Opt 40. I was able to go as an E3 but had to wait and re enlist for four years and a bunch of other shit to get to R.I.P. (RASP) and ended up being an import. Also before RSLC it was called the Long Range Surveillance Leadership Qualification Course and was an unwritten law pre-requisite for RRD(C). With a Q6 designator. Have NO idea what or how it is set up now. But I do believe that RR( now C)D selection is open to any rank of any Branch and HALO is a part of the pipeline and not seperate from, which is a lot better. Anyway finished with my rant. Great job on the podcast and your vids Brother, keep up the good work. GOOD on You. Carpe Noctem Brothers RLTW!

Does a loaded Barbell with 400+ lbs on your back correlate to a ruck and a human slung over your shoulder in terms of how difficult it feels on your system? Is there any carryover if you're an accomplished barbell squatter or are the carryover in training a totally different beast?

Entirely different. Much easier to stabilize a barbell vs. a rucksack, weapon slung in front, and then balancing a dude on top of all that. Feels entirely different. And then you've got to walk with all that, so it's more of a complete body workout. That being said, there definitely is carryover, more so in the tendons and ligaments you strengthen in a squat. Makes it less likely you'll injure yourself under a heavy ruck load.
