Brings tears to my eyes every time. This man inspires me he’s an absolute legend. The way he looked right when he got out and gasped for that first breath of air was like waking up again. Atleast for me it was, that’s exactly how I felt after beating my drug addiction. I went from an athlete to a junkie loser losing everything and everyone in the process. Couldn’t save a dime. No dreams no desires anymore. Nobody wanted anything to do with me and neither did I. Suicidal thoughts were nothing new to me anymore. I was just a walking corpse with literally nothing but somehow by the grace of my higher power I pulled myself out of that hell and now I’m almost 4 years clean. With an amazing fiancé, with my family back and much more than I deserve. I can actually save a dollar now which is a blessing on its own. I feel that fresh gasp of air now everyday because I’m not trapped in that prison of addiction anymore and It’s like waking up again and being blessed enough to do what you wanna do in life. I still have a long way to go. I hope to do something one day with my life that will make my parents and my people and my wife proud of me like Matt Johnson. I tell myself since you beat drugs you should be proud but coming from Indo-Canadian families I don’t really believe that’s something they consider to be proud of. I still consider myself a junkie loser and what not I know I have to talk to myself better but it’s hard, and seeing this man obviously doing what he truly loves was so inspiring. Doing what he did was much harder than anything I could ever do. I hope one day I can do something even a quarter as important as this. What a legend. Anyways thank you for reading this. God Bless🙏🏼
