Cutting and logging the old school way, quite skilled. Logging was and still is one of the most dangerous professions.
@larryschmidt35943 жыл бұрын
@Biker Rat I said it is dangerous, it has been the number one dangerous profession for years. Police work doesn't even rank in the top 25.
@larryschmidt35943 жыл бұрын
@Biker Rat look it up yourself the most dangerous job in America in 2020 was logging. Truck drivers were number 6.
@larryschmidt35943 жыл бұрын
@Biker Rat type in most dangerous jobs in 2020. It goes on a % I believe. Construction workers average 1 a day. According to the government statistic most truck driver deaths were from local delivery drivers delivering to homes and few over the road truckers. My neighbor owns a Trucking Company and drives over the road every day as does his son.

@Biker Rat yeah, I've been doing this for 30 years and after being properly trained I have had a successful career. Ya know, back in the day we used to train one another.

@silentdarkness62603 жыл бұрын
Yeah he definitely did not need those wedges lol. With how little that trunk was up top he could have dropped it that way without the witches. I've been doing tree care for a while now and never once used wedges lol. I'm not saying never use them. There's a time and place for everything, you just don't need them for a little stuff like he did

when you are 80 feet up a tree would you give a tree top even the slightest chance to fall back on you?
@pallmall54953 жыл бұрын
@Biker Rat I will give you that .I find myself at the age of 47 ,fifteen feet up a tree though to get away from my wife and kids in my tree house.

I've been a Timber Faller for the last 40 years of my life ! And I'd like to know where these people learned to cut Timber? The title of this video hits the nail on the Head
@Aikidobear12911 ай бұрын
Hi Robert: I am an amateur so I'm always looking to learn from the more experienced- what, in your opinion did these guys do wrong? Was it the angle of the cuts or the sequence of the cuts that was wrong? I'd really appreciate your view on it. Thanks!

Well the guy cutting the tree near the water was dressed real pretty and had a nice new looking hard hat and muffs. But from my perspective of cutting timber for 33 yrs his stump and under cut look like a beaver might have done better! Just saying.

Chainsaw machine?
@brucepickess80972 жыл бұрын
Hi, chainsaw definition - a mechanical power-driven cutting tool with teeth set on a chain which moves around the edge of a blade. Machine definition - an apparatus using mechanical power and having several parts, each with a definite function and together performing a particular task. Yes it's a machine.
@brucepickess80972 жыл бұрын
Hi, well I'm no expert, however there is one thing I do know. The first (let's say front) cut, the flat cut and then the second angle cut is supposed to form part of a hinge with the rear cut. The rear flat cut is supposed to be slightly above the front cut. The tree then hinges and pivots on the thin section of remaining timber.
@firstman92732 жыл бұрын
No, the second does not go slightly above, that would make it dangerous because doing that takes away the hinge.
@johnbarham77183 жыл бұрын
I agree. I wish I could do that as they do.

Bar is too short to get right through , very annoying if you can't quite reach the middle of the cut (tree) , tree won't fall being held up by just a little bit , that's why was bor out the scarf.
